In other words....

I was playing Million Dollar Password with Dallin and the word was tears. I said, "These come out of your eyes when you cry."

"Umm, drops."

"Yeah, what are those drops called?"

"Like water coming out of your eyes."

I guess he doesn't know the word tears. Another word was direction. I said, "This is something you have to ask for if you don't know how to get somewhere."

"A map."

"Well a map can help you find the right....."

"Way to go.," he guessed.

I said, "North, south, east, and west are 4 of these."

"Like where we need to go?"

"Yeah"

Then he said definitively, with an air of confidence, "Walmart or Target."

That had me laughing out loud because we usually do need to go to Walmart or Target. When I told him the answer was direction, he wanted me to start all over again. He does know that word.

P.S. Rebekah, the funny thing about all the red was that I didn't even know what Nikolay was going to wear until I had all of the kids in the car and he descended the stairs to join us.

Milestones

When she tried to eat these.....,

Image

I knew she was ready for this:

Image
Not the greatest picture ever. Ariel took it because my hands were a little busy. She is sitting in the umbrella stroller, because when I brought the high chair up from the basement, the buckle was missing. All of my babies up until Alice have really had to learn how to eat solid food. Not Alice, she ate like a pro the very first time. I don't know why I was so surprised.

ImageAriel was pretending to be the guru from Avatar: the Last Airbender, so Adriana and Annika joined her. You don't see too many guru's eating ice-cream cones like Annika.

4th of July

This year we celebrated our country's independence for 3 days, July 3rd, 4th and 5th. Saturday, July 3rd we were invited to a party, Sunday, July 4th we watched fireworks with the kids in their pajamas, so we could put them right to bed when we got home, and Monday, July 5th we were invited to a patriotic breakfast.
Here is everyone in their patriotic clothes before we left for the party. Notice Annika's dress...it will be important later.

ImageAt the party. Nikolay totally needs a haircut in this picture. I cut it just a few days later, and it was so funny how he had gotten sunburned (he refuses to wear sunblock) with his longish hair, because when I cut it there was a white line around his hairline that was previously covered by hair. I think he is getting better at smiling for pictures.

ImageStill at the party. Notice Annika's change in wardrobe? She had an accident, so I had to come to the rescue as super-mom. I took off her wet dress, sandals and underpants and put on Adriana's swimsuit that was in the car in place of underwear, her shirt was still dry, we borrowed Alice's skirt and Dallin's extra flip flops that were in the car. I'm glad I didn't clean out the car before we went

Peas

ImageI am so happy to have a garden again after not having one for two years, having moved in the middle of the summer two years in a row. One thing that i have learned is that peas are a great thing to plant early, because they do best in the cooler weather. Remember when I got so excited about the nice weather back on April 7th and decided to plant my seedlings outside, well peas are the only ones that survived. I had to start the cucumbers all over again, well I guess the zucchini survived too, but don't they survived everything? These pictures are from June 1st. After a few weeks they shriveled up and died, but then my other plants started really coming in.
