HAHA I completely missed April. Well, here it is.
The week of Easter was a busy one in the Nelson household because Isaac's birthday was just days later. Isaac was perfectly comfortable with the outpouring of gifts and sweets. Let's begin with the day before Easter.
We took the train (for Isaac's pleasure) to Stanford where they were hosting an Easter egg hunt. The children were giddy every time they found an egg. They needed a little bit of help since the big kids would swoop in like vultures and grab the eggs faster than we could walk to them.
Wrong direction, silly! Look down!
We then wandered around campus and finished our outing in the museum where Isaac was kind enough to plop down on a most advantageous spot and allow me to change his posture a bit. I was terribly amused.
Easter morning was fun- new coloring books, a couple of very small toys, and Daddy got a ton of candy. Maybe next year Mommy will actually get a basket, but she's not counting on it. We went to church where Sacrament meeting was interrupted by somebody pulling the fire alarm. Add to that 2 baby blessings and screeching fire engines who had to come make sure everything was really OK, and there wasn't much time left in the meeting for talking about Easter. Oh well. We still had ample time to think about Jesus on our own. The children were adorable.
Later that week, we celebrated Isaac's birthday. He really had the hang of the whole presents thing this time- he'd rip into a present, scream about it, toss it aside, and start ripping into the next one. On the plus side, we got through all that in record time. After finishing the piece of cake we gave him, he evidently wanted more and helped himself. For the record, he learned the "picking away at the cake" trick from Grandma Rudd. Thanks, Mom.
Needless to say, Mommy was tired after all that, so when the following Sunday rolled around, the children were big helpers. Isaac loves to help in the kitchen. When he wants to clean, he says, "Mommy, can I be really busy in the kitchen?"
And thus is was.
