April marked our first cold sell of HGHR's 3-arm header cap! Very exciting day, that was.
Sean (in our car club) invited us to his wedding in Las Vegas. He and Anna planned it on the same weekend as the Viva Last Vegas Rockabilly Weekend. Many from the club braved the wintery driving conditions and drove their hot rods down! A few also drove modern cars for support in case the newly-completed hot rods had trouble. Andy and I cheated and flew down this time. We all stayed at the Flamingo.
The views out of our room were pretty cool, looking over the tree-filled courtyard, which has all sorts of strange-looking water birds and smells like fish. The "High Roller" Ferris wheel in the background is new since our last visit. It is currently the highest in the world, which kinda just serves as a challenge for somebody to beat.
Despite what paintings and photos show, these flamingo birds use both of their legs most of the time. I had to wait forever to get this one-legged shot!
A shot of the High Roller from below:
The wedding, complete with Elvis music, was the first night we were there. Then, the car show activities began. The show used to be in a parking garage but has since moved to a huge parking lot. There were more vendors there than I have ever seen at a show, and absolutely zero shade. These lovely ladies found parasols or hot cars to somewhat escape from the sun:
Car club cars that made it on the long roadtrip:
These two hot rods were from Burley!! I am not familiar with them or their owner, but felt some hometown pride anyway :)
There were quite a few cars with interesting paint jobs:
Seriously intricate pinstriping:
Fins!!
Cool, Bubbly-ness:
This van that had so much character, I swear it could have a personality:
Some Tri-Five ideas for Andyman to critique and glean ideas from:
One of the perks of attending a show outside the Northwest region was seeing some hot rods we hadn't seen before:
This one had us puzzled until we got closer and could read the information.
It looked oddly small, because it's a Dwarf!
And, of course there were gobs of these beautiful, classic cars:
Back home, the warmer days of Spring had us starting to work our new dirt, using the neighbor's little bulldozer to start clearing an area for the new shop.
Andyman hadn't run a dozer before but didn't let that stop him from learning how to move dirt using all arms and legs and serious brain focus! I even got to ride along behind the seat, which was all kinds of fun, and nostalgic, and even romantic :)
