Bit by Bit Hackathon is our hackathon for beginning hackers and is only available to Monash University students.

Not sure what a hackthon is? Or perhaps Interested in being part of a hackathon but don't know where to start? Bit by Bit Hackathon is perfect for your first hackathon!

Teams of students have the weekend to create a prototype of a website/app/game/whatever and get feedback from mentors before pitching them to our panel of judges. And workshops throughout the day!

Coders, designers, thinkers - whatever your talent is, regardless of skill level, come and participate in Bit by Bit Hackathon!

Requirements

Please submit your project on time. Also include a public github repository URL that the judges can access as this will help with the judging process.

Judging Criteria

  • TECH - Effectiveness of Solution & Business Potential
    How effective is the solution to the problem? How much potential does this solution can be turned into a startup?
  • TECH - Creativity & Design
    How creative is the product? Do other products already exist that solve this problem? How does the app look? Does it look nice? How practical does it look?
  • TECH - Technical Difficulty
    Is the project technically impressive? Complex? Does it seem remarkable that someone could achieve this hack in just a day or two?
  • TECH - Wow Factor
    Look for a project that makes you say, “Wow!” You can also take into account the reactions of the other hackers.
  • TECH - Polish of Solution
    Does the hack work? Did the team achieve their goals and accomplish what they set out to do?
  • PITCH - Effectiveness of Solution
    How effective is the solution to the problem?
  • PITCH - Business Potential
    How much potential does this solution can be turned into a startup?
  • PITCH - Pitching Presentation
    How was the pitch? Did it interest you in the problem? Did it target what the group wanted? Did the slides/material work with the pitch?
  • PITCH - Technical Difficulty
    Is the project technically impressive? Complex? Does it seem remarkable that someone could achieve this hack in just a day or two?
  • PITCH - Wow Factor
    Look for a project that makes you say, “Wow!” You can also take into account the reactions of the other hackers.
