On any given day, it is not abnormal to come to our house and see Emerson in his football outfit or his cowboy dress-up. Lately, I think the decision of which one to put on has become too overwhelming. So, he has come to the conclusion on his own that he can wear both at the same time and alleviate the painful process of trying to decide which one to wear. Now, he can shoot and tackle the bad guys all at the same time.

Oh, what a week

Brian has now been gone for 9 days and we are all anxiously awaiting his return home tonight. Brian has traveled the country from SLC to San Fran, San Fran to Raleigh, Raleigh back to San Fran and to end the trip a red eye yesterday from San Fran to NYC. Finally, he will take a flight home tonight from NYC to SLC. Brian has had quite the schedule and we are hoping that he isn't too worn out when he gets home. The kids are ready to play with dad and mom is ready to have a break.
It has been a long and exhausting week holding down the fort. Luckily, we have all survived without any casualties. I must admit, I was thankful American Idol aired 3 nights last week and we had an excuse for us to all veg out in front of the TV. Although Brian probably wouldn't approve of that much TV for the kids, in desperate times you have to do whatever you can to keep it together. I also have to thank Dorothy for taking the kids on Saturday night so I could have a night out with my girlfriends - a much needed break.
Unfortunately, Brian has to travel again this weekend but luckily Callie and I will get to go with him.
Our little Miss Callie a pirate??
The ophthalmologist has told us Callie is officially crossed eyed in both eyes. She will probably have surgery in the next month or so to correct the muscles. Until the surgery, we have been instructed to patch her eyes so she doesn't begin to favor one eye more than the other. We are just grateful everything else with her eyes seem to be in good condition and the surgery has a very high percentage of success.
Even with the patch, we have concluded that she is still the cutest thing alive. You can decide for yourself.
Aaarrgh!

Let's Give It a Whirl
Okay, I am committing today to try this blogging thing. I love reading other people's blogs and having a way to stay in contact with those I don't get to talk or see very often. But my real reason for doing this is purely selfish. I have never and probably will never be a very good journal keeper. I always think I will never forget the funny stories or important moments in my kid's lives but I find myself already having a hard time remembering and my oldest is only 6. I am hoping maybe I can at least write down some of the funny or crazy things that go on in our house on a weekly basis. Or in other words, a way to share with you stories about Emerson. (I have a feeling there will be a few stories to share about that kid over the years.) I can't promise that this will be the most interesting or funny blog that you read but hopefully Brian will be able to chime in every once in awhile to add some spice to it. So, here it goes. Enjoy!
