When it comes to pregnancys and deliverys Oakley was a breeze! If the labor and delivery for Cedar is any inclination of whats to come in the future....I am going to have my hands full. I was so sick with this pregnancy. Not only that I had to battle things like gestational diabetes this go round. There were so many things that I never experienced with Oakley that I did with Cedar.

The delivery was the hardest part of all though. I kept having contractions every 3-5 minutes apart for about 3 weeks before Cedar was born. I went into the hospital 3 different times thinking that I was ready, only to be sent home! I walked so many laps around Wal-Mart it isn't even funny! Anyways...they scheduled me for an induction, that didn't work and so a couple of days later, they tried again. This time around it worked. I went in at 6:30 in the morning and by 7:00 that night we had a hansome little cowboy! Things were going really well. They came in and broke my water, I got an epidural (which made James sicker than sick), and I started progressing pretty good! The only problem was that my cervix was still way high. The nurse finally came in to drain my bladder and when she did, Cedar dropped down into the birth canal. The cord was wrapped around his neck though and his heartrate dropped to nothing. The nurse hurry and literally shoved him back up inside me. It gave him the relief he needed, but in turn my blood pressure started dropping quite rapidly! I was so out of it! I couldn't breath...I couldn't funtion at all! The doctor was called and they put me on oxygen and then gave me some medicine to bring my blood pressure up. It worked for about 30 seconds and then I crashed again. More meds and it worked for about another 30 seconds and then I crashed again. This time though I rallied on my own. I slowley started regaining the vitals I needed. The whole time the sweet nurses were telling me to relax and close my eyes...they only thing is...I knew if I closed my eyes it would be the last time I ever did. Everything worked out though and as soon as my blood pressure was a fairly normal level it was time to push. Fifteen minutes later, Cedar was born and the doctor hurried to unwrap the cord from his neck and get him cleaned up! It was an awesome experience and I am glad that our little guy is finally here! He is such a sweetheart and we love him to pieces! Oakley has been and awesome big brother and helper. He has already packed him from the couch to the hallway when I wasn't looking! Dakota is so proud to be a big sister! She loves to hold him and really helps out when she can! We are all just happy that he got here safely and healthy!

Halloween 2010

Halloween was a blast this year!!!! It is the first year we have been able to have Dakota and even though we thought I was ready to pop at any given moment we made the best of it. We carved pumpkins earlier in the day and then we all got ready (James even rocked a sweet mullet) for the annual Trunk or Treat up Dryfork Canyon. We were planning to go to our ward one, but when we got there, there was nobody there (I think we were early to something for once) so we went and visited my parents and Sonja. After the kids filled their bags we went to Brandons and Keisha and then to the Watkins. We even got an early Halloween surprise visit by the Queen Witch herself!

RIP Grandma Bethers

September 18th brought some bad news to our family, James' mother passed away. It was completly unexpected and we were all very surprised by it. Needless to say, everyone took it pretty hard, especially Dakota. I have never seen a little girl cry so hard in all my life. When they closed the casket there was not a dry eye in the whole chapel. She had a very close relationship with her grandma! The funeral was awesome! Beautiful prayers, talks, and songs! I really think she would have been happy with it! Most of all, I think she would have been pretty proud that all of her sons were able to carry her to her final resting place. Rest in Peace Grandma Bethers...God be with you till we meet again!

Cantelloping

First- Let me start off by telling you the what a lope or gallop is.
It is a 3 beat gate where basically, to put it simple the horse is running. You can have a fast lope (run) or a slow lope (canter).

Tonight Dakota and I were talking about barrel racing. She asked me if Boston was a barrel racer and I told her yes. Then she said," I am a barrel racer, too." We talked about different horses that she barrel races on and then the topic came to BJ. BJ is a super big and super fast paint horse that we all rode when we were kids. I am sure some of you might remember him from back in the day. Anyways she told me....."Remember that time that BJ was cantelloping with me?" All I could do was laugh....then I called my mom, so she could share in the laughter. All I could think about was running fruit. I am sure, unless you know horses, it won't make sense to you, but I still chuckle when I think about it!

I thought I lost you!!!

Yesterday I had to help out at the saddle shop, so I took Oakley to my parents for a nap and some quality Grandma time. I laid him down for his nap and headed to the shop. When I got finished a couple of hours later I went to get Oak. As soon as I walked in the door, re ran to me screaming "Mommy, Mommy.....I thought I lost you!" He then gave me he biggest hug ever! It is moments like that that make me grateful to be a mother! I love it!
