Addiction

ImageIts all your fault Shauna. I am hooked. I devoured Season 1 in two days and am plugging away on Season 2. I have lost all desire to do any sort of Christmas crafting. I just want to sit on the couch, cuddle up with a blanket and watch. Don't watch this show! Trust me.

Christmas Listening

So I know 3 posts in a week, I am astounding myself. Its christmas time! And you better believe I am listening to 40 hours of christmas music a week until I leave my desk for vacation. Since I knew I needed some variety this year due to the desk job, I hit up the Orem Library and came away with some surprising favorites.

ImageOnly for Feliz Navidad
ImageI know it looks lame and TLC has a track on it but its quite catchy
ImageThe Vince Guaraldi Trio, its really quite nostalgic
Image
All I want for Christmas is you

ImageAnd of course the #1 in my house growing up, there isn't a christmas memory I have that doesn't include this cd
Makes me want to watch Love Actually and While You Were Sleeping.

The Worthens

Even though there was a snowstorm, the Worthens did not back down from their family photo session. Its not like I'm any kind of professional but we did have a good time freezing, getting snowed on, and laughing. I have to admit, I was terrified of doing these pictures because I've never shot a kid before and especially one as rambunctious as Jay. (Jay knows who I am now and can say my name, I am thrilled) P.S. How cute is his suit?

I think they turned out pretty well. Here are some random candid shots so I don't accidentally use the ones for their christmas card. And yes, that is Jamestown if you noticed.

ImageThanks for the fridge pack and the salt!

Christmas Tree

ImageSo we finally got our christmas tree! It snowed all day Saturday so we waited until night to go out when the snow stopped so our tree wouldn't get all wet during transportation. We went to Lowe's because their trees are covered and trimmed and bound all ready to go. We bought one and stuffed it in the trunk and made the slow trip home with the trunk tied down but not shut.

We happily brought it into the apartment, cut the binding and stood in awe is it preceded to take up a large part of our living! Its huge! We shoved it against a wall and did some major trimming but I LOVE it and I think I'm going to miss it when it leaves--you know how you get used to something like that and then there will be a big hole in the apartment.
Image
Anyway Steve helped and we put all the ornaments on it, silver and gold! So pretty. And that is our first christmas gift to ourselves underneath, a new dust buster to clean up after the tree!

Engagement Session

Whitney, my long time roommate and laundry cohort, is engaged and I couldn't be happier for her. She asked me to take their engagement pictures and I was honored and terrified. They ended up turning out really well. I love how you can just tell they love each other and I think that was the goal. They were a blast to work with and it was nice finally meeting Sean. Congrats on the engagement!

New York in a Bag

Image
How cool is this? A nine building New York set complete with cars! Steve I thought of you. Available here at one of our favorite places the Museum of Modern Art

Photo

ImageFor some reason I can't stop thinking about this photo I found on this blog.
It is just so funny to me. It both looks nostalgic and ridiculous at the same time. It makes me laugh every time I see it. I think its mainly Jolie's pose, it looks like she's drying her nails or something.

Volver

Image
If you have the chance, see this movie. Steve and I went last Friday night to the international cinema for a very well edited version of this foreign film. By editing I mean they took out two swear words and a 15 second sexual encounter, I appreciated them retaining the essence of the film unlike some editing crazy companies.

Anyway, it was uplifting, enlightening and enjoyable. The theater was packed and everyone was laughing. I left feeling cultured which is a wonderful feeling.

The international cinema will also be playing Amelie in the next couple of weeks and have some other really good line ups like always. Check out the schedule here.

Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! Since I couldn't get my act together this year and come up with a costume I thought I would share these photos of halloweens gone by. Thanks mom for the scans! Be prepared for some awesome nostalgia! Image
My favorite part of this one is my dad as the mexican sheriff. Although I do love Micah's huge mickey mouse head.ImageAh the Wizard of Oz themed year. You better believe I wore my ruby slippers until every grain of glitter was off. I love Aaron's triangle eyebrows.Image
Okay I have no idea what I am in this picture (so mom if you could leave a comment and clue me in that would be great) I love Aaron's all white face and how cute Micah is and Dad's creepy yet funny huge smile.
ImageMe as a witch. I love the rickrack detailing. How cute. ImageMy favorite! The classic Star Wars themed halloween. Obi, Luke, Lei and of course the token Ewok. I love how curly Micah's hair is so curly and that I am wearing bright red tennis shoes with my costume! That belt is probably one of my favorite accessories I have EVER owned, vinyl with puff paint!

I love the mouth on Steve's.

Yeah Halloween!

The Weekend and Witches

ImageI have a few childhood memories of being literally frightened out of my mind and this weekend I am going to make Steve relive one with me. When I was small, younger than 10 I saw this movie and it scared me so bad, I remember leaving the room. Its this fantastic remake of Roald Dahl's children's book The Witches. Creepy scary women with purple eyes and flesh masks. See it. Thanks Shauna for letting us borrow it.

Funny Thing

The funniest thing happened yesterday. I went to the bathroom and there was a penny in the toilet!

There was a nickel on the bathmat too!

Apparently we are well off enough to just flush money down the toilet.

Fall on Center Street

Steve and I went for a little walk in downtown Provo this past Sunday between sessions. I have been gushing about all the beautiful fall trees we have around here and Steve had spotted some good ones on Center Street. It was beautiful and crisp yet warm in the sun.
ImageCenter Street is one of my favorite parts of Provo well it kind of gets more ghetto the further west you go and the speed limit is 15 MPH but I do love it. The median has big leafy trees and the buildings are all old and most have the original brick facades. It kind of reminds me of 1st St. in Snohomish although not as many antique shops.
ImageThis photo was an accident, I'm not that talented, but I really like it. Thats Steve in the background with the new Covey Arts Center.

Pretty Flower

ImageThere is this bush in front of our neighbor's window that has these flowers on it. They are open in the morning when it is chilly and they are closed when I come home from work in the heat. I managed to remember to take a picture when they were unexpectedly open the other evening. It is intentionally blurry. I think it looks cool. I love the color. So vibrant!

Double Musical Weekend: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

ImageThis weekend Steve and I went to see Hairspray and it was FANTASTIC!! I can't even tell you how entertaining and enjoyable it was. The theater was packed and everyone was laughing cheering and having a merry time. I loved it on broadway and I loved this version too. I promptly burned the soundtrack from a friend and have been singing along since. Go see it or rent it! ImageThen Saturday my musical loving enthusiasm was cut short. Shauna, a friend from work and I went to see a matinée. I have been anticipating this film since I saw this first preview knowing it was going to be strange but expecting the cinematographic brilliance of Lehrman's Moulin Rouge. Plus I love the Beatles. It was weird and I wanted to leave. I kept thinking to myself "No Me Gusta!" And we mumbled about the weird circus drug scene and the naked white Asians and the crazy masked army officers and Salma Hayek as a cloned nurse. I know its supposed to take place in the 1960's but you don't need 45 minutes of drug induced scenes. The beginning was fine and the ending was okay but the whole middle was pure disappointment. The only thing I really liked about it was how fresh all the vocalists sounded. Don't see it or at least wait for the $1. Boo Julie Taymor.
