What is slicing for 3D prints?

In the simplest terms, slicing is the process of turning a 3D model into a detailed set of instructions that your 3D printer understands. When you slice a 3D model you choose settings from a wide range of parameters - or rely on recommended presets in slicing profiles - that dictate all sorts of qualities for your 3D print. The most commonly configured settings include temperatures, layer height, infill type and density, wall thickness, top and bottom layers, and support angles.

What is BigRep BLADE?

What are the key features of BigRep BLADE?

BigRep BLADE has many advanced features that can be found in other slicing software, however, its unique features are the preset profiles and many automated functions.

BLADE profiles are created for specific 3D printer/material combinations
Autoorient will position your 3D model in the best orientation on the print bed
Batch printing lets you include multiple geometries into the same slicing file to print in one go
Dual extrusion allows you to print with multiple materials using multiple extruders
Twin Mode lets you print two identical parts simultaneously using two extruders

What are BLADE profiles?

BLADE profiles are meticulously crafted presets that are recommended for use for most 3D prints. Each profile is developed through countless hours of research and testing to create the optimal settings. Simply select the 3D printer your will use and choose the material, nozzle size, and desired layer height. Most often, the recommended profile will deliver great results, but if you want to fine tune your settings, simply adjust any parameters as needed.

Which 3D printers are compatible with BigRep BLADE?

What’s the difference between Basic and Advanced modes in BigRep BLADE?

BigRep BLADE comes with preset slicing profiles for each compatible printer/material combination, so you don't need to adjust any parameters unless you want to customize your slicing. Use BLADE's Basic Mode if you want to view and adjust the most commonly used parameters. If you want to fine tune your settings, then enable the Advanced Mode to see more parameters. Simply select All of your want to see and adjust all available slicing parameters.
