SoCcEr!!

.... James is in Colorado this weekend for soccer, so soccer is on my mind right now...

James made the starting line up this year! He is the season 2010 Left Defender!

A few funny stories. There's one HERE.

One kid (Zach) ran right into James during practice. James was kinda annoyed because who does that? But he was fine. He looks up at Zach and he is gushing blood out of his forehead. He had to be rushed to the hospital for stitches! And James just got a little bump on the side of his head by his ear... basically he's indestructible.

THIS is from the media release today...

"the back line will be led by James Bindrup and KC Whitworth"

James is the only defender that didn't play last year and his name made the paper.. he's that good.

Okay I'm done bragging. He's a soccer picture from high school because there were no new ones up of him online ...yet...Image

A little more than dinner and a movie

Our "24 hour" date...
Starting at 5:30 pm on Wednesday... BYU's International Cinema. ImageThe ENTIRE movie was in Russian with English subtitles. James had to go for a class and I thought it would be fun to go together. We haven't gone to a movie in a long time! It was a pretty weird movie... deep, but weird. I wouldn't recommend it, nor would I see it again, but it was fun.

Next stop... ImageMy mom sent James and I an engagement package. Cute huh? One thing included in that was a $25 Olive Garden gift certificate. Pretty expensive for our budget (as sad as that sounds) but it was so delicious. Thanks mom!

Then we ended out night with our FAVORITE GAME EVER. Bananagrams. ImageWe're are seriously obsessed. It's out of control.

The next morning... James called me. Our religion class was canceled. So we decided to do something fun. We went out to breakfast at Kneaders.
ImageYum. We haven't been back there since James has been home from him mission. Every time we pass it we say, oh we need to have breakfast there soon! We finally did! We got the unlimited french toast... Just to give you an idea.. it looks like this... So good!ImageThen we saw the early bird showing of When In Rome at the Provo Mall.ImageIt was pretty good. Did you know the early bird showing at Provo Mall is only $5.50? Crazy huh? It's over 12 bucks in California for a movie... so I was ecstatic about that. Oh and one important detail James and I were the ONLY people in the theater! We loved it.We could talk as loud as wanted, yet got the movie theater experience... couldn't be better.
Then we went to out favorite ice cream place.

Image
For those of you who are not privileged enough to know what Sub Zero is.. They pour different types of milk into a bowl, add flavor, then they pour liquid nitrogen on it to freeze it. ImagePretty cool huh? It tastes good too.

While we were out James made the comment "Hey we just had a 24 hour date!" haha.. I loved it. And of course we had to end our date with our other love...Image
We love eating and movies... this 24 hour date with a few meals and a few movies was perfect for us!

today.. there was a change...

I have never gotten a ticket before...

Actually I've never even been pulled over before...

All of that changed. Today. March 6, 2010.

It was actually really stupid on my part. I totally deserved a ticket. I cut a cop off haha. I didn't know he was a cop until AFTER I had cut him off, but still my fault. I earned that ticket. I might have gotten out of it, if my license was in the car... but, of course, it wasn't. That was big mistake number 2. Oh well.

Surprisingly I wasn't really upset at all. I always thought I would be really upset if I got pulled over. James told me I should have cried to get out of it, but I couldn't have cried if I wanted to.

This is so ironic because I always make fun of James for his many accumulated tickets throughout his lifetime. He's the one out of us that is supposed to get tickets not me! We obviously spend too much time together because his traits are rubbing off on me. :)

Engaged!

Image I'm starting to get REALLY good at telling this story... It is time for the blogging world to know. James and I became officially ENGAGED. (Forever ago! I know! I'm sorry! This actually happened February 13).
Image So here's the story... let me start with a little background... October 19, 2007 was a Friday, but not just any Friday, the Friday before James left on his mission. I was, at that time, in my second semester at BYU. I drove down to Vegas with James's brother Richard that Friday. It was a long 5 hour drive with someone I didn't know very well. During the drive all I could think about were the fast approaching several days would be difficult and I wasn't looking forward to them, to say the least. James knew that, so he tried the best he could to make this weekend as easy as possible for me. Richard and I arrived in late that night. Once we got in James told me he had a surprise for me. He packed a backpack full of "surprises" and we got into the car to transport us to our destination. Our destination was this little park. James had secretly gone to that park before we had arrived and wrote messages with rocks and in chalk on the sidewalk.
Image
ImageThis was something really special to us and I guess you could call this "our place." We don't have anything like this in Provo or anywhere else.

Okay fast forward... to February 13, 2010...

James and I were in Las Vegas for the weekend. We had a fairly normal vacation Saturday with his family. We went out to lunch, went to a movie, had pizza with the whole family. Then later that night James and I went to the Bellagio. We watched the water show and went to the flower exhibit. Then we went to Golden Spoon (which was my only requirement while we were in Las Vegas). Then... you guessed it... we went to "our place." I thought we were going to reminisce about our walk 2 1/2 years ago. We begin our walk and he whips out a flashlight and shines it on a rock formation that says "happy b + v day" That means happy birthday/valentines day.
Image I was in utter shock when I saw that. I WAS WITH HIM ALL DAY! Then it hit me... James works from 2am to 6 am 5 days a week, so he's always tired. He "took a nap" earlier today, but in reality he snuck out of the house while I was in my room. I had no idea he would sneak out because naps for him are so normal. Anyways back to the walk.. there were various other messages. Then I got to my last message... he handed me the flash light. I saw this message.Image I knew what it said, but I wanted to hear it from him. I turned to him and he was on one knee. Then he asked me to marry him :) Needless to say, I said yes.
