Inside Picnics!

ImageWe have been doing SO many fun things lately. I wish we took more pictures. Here is one particular event that we did take pictures. We had an inside picnic while watch Hotel Rwanda. We had home-made tortilla chips {basically we cut up tortillas and put them in our deep fat fryer SUPER healthy I know}, home-made guacamole, turkey sandwiches with guac, watermelon, and some Smiths cookies. It was really fun!Image

Kitchen Craft #4

(Don't worry.. I think this is my last one, for the kitchen at least)

I really wanted one of those "I kiss better than I cook" signs. I did a lot of looking around and I decided I wanted to make my own. I bought letters at Michaels and painted them white.ImageThen I bought scrap wood at Lowes. Did you know any size scrap wood is free? You just have to pay $1 for them to cut it the size you want it, pretty cool fact to know. Then I sewed extra fabric from the reupholstered chairs and the brown fabric together. The brown fabric is actually the old fabric for the chairs that I took off. And here is the final project! It has yet to be hung on the wall, but it will soon!Image

Kitchen Craft #3

This is my kitchen. Notice the EXTREMELY white walls and that huge open white spot. I had to do something about it. ImageI bought $1 piece of wood at Michaels and $1 hooks from Target. I painted the piece of wood (please do not judge my non-artistic-ness) and James screwed in the hooks. Here it is. ImageWe hung it up in the white spot and it has become an apron hanger. Looks way better right?

Claim Jumper

is my favorite resturant. I always get soup and a muffin, which might sound lame to you BUT I love it. Two weekends ago, my dear sweet husband drove down to Heber to pick up our couches. On the way there he stumbled upon this (without the angry girl in the picture. I was mad he wouldn't let me look at the restaurant. I wanted to know the surprise!)
ImageHe knows how much I LOVE Claim Jumper, so he said he had a surprise date for me for our 2 months. We drove all the way down to Heber. He even had me close my eyes when we got close. I WAS SOOOOO EXCITED when I was finally able to open my eyes. (Notice the goofy smile)ImageWe stepped inside and realized it was a different Claim Jumper, which was EXTREMELY out of our price range (like $30 a plate). So we walked out. Now we were in Heber, starving and didn't know where to go. I had only eaten one other place in Heber, the Dairy Keen (not to be confused with the Dairy Queen). ImageThe Dairy Keen is a little kid place with trains traveling their tracks above the customers. Hilarious we went there, but it was definitely an adventure! Yay Happy 2 months to us!

Kitchen Craft #2

Reupholstering our kitchen chairs!
We bought our kitchen table off of KSL. When we bought them the lady that had them had already tried reupholstering them. She obviously didn't do a very good job!
Image
They don't look too bad from the top, but I wanted something more bold (because we have to keep our ugly white walls).
Image
This is the original. SUPER ugly!
Image
We picked out the material together. This was actually James's choice. He has pretty good taste right? I cut out the pattern and pinned it to the chair. Then James stapled it.
Image
And here is our final project! I love it!
ImageImageP.S. We did 3 of our 4 kitchen chairs in that fabric and our 4th kitchen chair we use as our desk chair, so naturally we had to do different fabric. Check it out. Looks good with the couch right?Image

Kitchen Craft # 1

Image
Sorry the picture was taken on my phone so it's poor quaility. I added some spice to my pictures and frames by backing them with scrapbook paper. The 2 bucks I spent on scrapbook paper was totally worth it! These are going to add some life to my kitchen. Here they are on the wall. Cute right?

I have an announcement..

Yesterday I was trying to find the DMV and I was lost. SO lost. Which is ridiculous to get lost with the grid system in Utah, but if anyone can get lost it's me. I was starting to get REALLY frustrated. I couldn't call James for directions because he was sleeping! The frustration was building and I decided to give up on my DMV appointment and head on over to the grocery store. As I pull into Harmons (in Orem) I notice something heavenly on my right. This is it. Image

No I'm not kidding. There is a GOLDEN SPOON in Orem!! Best announcement ever I know.

Address: 824 East 800 North

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Golden Spoon it is the BEST frozen yogurt in the world, you should try it. I worked there for years, my sister is the manager in Mission Viejo right now. Golden Spoon is part of us.

Recently...

I'm really bad at updating this blog because I have an online journal too... and that tends to take more of my attention, but here are some recent events.

1. We celebrated James' birthday at Tucanos.
Image
Did you know that you can put your name on a mailing list and get a FREE $20 meal any day in your entire birthday month? Pretty awesome right?
Image
2. James gets free movie passes for doing well at work. We've seen a few awesome movies lately including: Inception and Salt.
3. My sister came to town.
Image
4. My new favorite thing is to check out DVDs from the Provo library. Seriously it's awesome. I reserve them online, someone else pulls it aside for me, they email me when it's ready, and I can pick it up to 4 days after the email. And it's free. The library is trumping redbox right now.
5. We went to the Draper temple. We've been trying to go to different temples and it has been really fun.

James finished his camps last week and I am so excited!! We have so many fun things ahead of us, one being actually finishing our house!! We got couches Saturday!! Pictures will come soon... It would look so much better if we could paint the walls! :(
