VaCaTiOn

James and I went on vacation last week, but not together.

James went to Puerto Rico with the soccer team! They won all 3 games (by a land slide) and had an awesome time. James came back with the WORST SUNBURN I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!!! I was a lifeguard for 3 years; I have seen my fair share of sunburns, but this is not comparable. I would take a picture, but I don't want to gross you out. Here is some of the guys at the beach (before the unsightly sunburn occurred).

I was in California, with these people (minus Lexi and Jake).

I at SO MUCH food. I felt like that's all we did. We did do some other fun things too, unfortunately I do not have pictures. Oh I got a hair cut too!! I cut off about 5 inches and have more bangs. Pictures to come.

The good news is we might actually go on a vacation together for our ONE YEAR anniversary in June. We might go to St. George :)

Okay I can't resist here are some sunburn pictures and these are taken 4 days after the sunburn so it was WAY worse.

The kindness of a stranger

Image
I've been thinking about this place {the Garden Tomb aka where Jesus was resurrected}.

Going along with the spirit of Easter, I wanted to share something that happened yesterday. I was at the swapmeet aka the best place ever {it's located on the Orange County Fair Grounds. Basically vendors set up their items on tables and temporary tents and people buy them for good deals. Like I said, best place ever}. I was searching through boxes of children's books {brand new for $1}. I had a huge stack piling up in my arms. This lady looks at me struggling with her young son and asks me "Are you a teacher?"
I answered "Yes, 5th graders."
She reaches into her wallet, hands me 5 dollars and says "What you are doing is so important. Put this towards your classroom library."
WHOA. I had a million thoughts racing through my head.
*I didn't know strangers could be that nice.
*Is it okay that I take it?
*I feel really important, being a teacher is important.
*People believe in me- even people I don't know.
*I want to be like that lady, such a seemingly small thing to do, yet I don't know if giving $5 to a stranger would even cross my mind. To be like this woman is, is a state of mind. I am sure this isn't the first time she had done something like this.
All and all it was such a cool experience. It is awesome to know that there are some great people out there that believe in new teachers :)
P.S. Go see The Conspirator!! It is SOO good! I cannot remember the last time I was that moved by a movie!

Question...

Does my really long hair make me look younger than I am? You think it would be better if I cut it to look older and not like one of my fifth graders? Poll on the left. :)
