Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery are combining to release a new streaming bundle featuring Disney+, Max, and Hulu as both companies fight heavy losses.
The new bundle, which will be available in ad-supported and ad-free versions, will combine of the most popular streaming shows available today, including The Bear, Shogun, House of the Dragon, and of course, Bluey. The official release highlights "ABC, CNN, DC, Discovery, Disney, Food Network, FX, HBO, HGTV, Hulu, Marvel, Pixar, Searchlight, Warner Bros., and much more" as part of the offering.
Disney Direct to Consumer President Joey Early said the new bundle will offer consumers "even more choice and value."
"This incredible new partnership puts subscribers first, giving them access to blockbuster films, originals, and three massive libraries featuring the very best brands and entertainment in streaming today,” he said in a statement.
Disney and Warner Bros. did not reveal the price for the new bundle. It follows the announcement of a new sports service in February that will combine offerings from ESPN, Warner Bros., and Fox. Warner Bros. is set to announce its earnings tomorrow, with another price hike said to be on the way for Max.
Both Disney+ and Max have struggled to retain subscribers amid rising prices. Back in February, Disney revealed that its service had lost 1.3 million subscribers. Max, for its part, lost 2.5 million subscribers in 2023. The losses are part of a greater reckoning for the streaming landscape as formerly optimistic entrants raise prices and merge, with Paramount potentially on the verge of being acquired. During Disney's earnings call earlier this week, CEO Bob Iger said that Marvel would be capping new movies at a "maximum of three."
