SIOUX FALLS, SD – The Sioux Falls Storm Indoor Football team announced on Wednesday afternoon that former University of South Dakota Coyote Elijah Reed has signed a contract with the organization for the 2024 Indoor Football League Season.

Reed appeared in 47 games at South Dakota, earning Team Captain honors during his Junior and Senior seasons. Reed split time between corner and safety, recording 258 total tackles to go along with four (4) interceptions and five (5) forced fumbles over parts of five seasons.
 
The Aurora, CO native finished in the top-4 at USD in tackles from 2019-2021 and led the Coyotes with a season-high 12 tackles against North Dakota State in the season finale of his senior season. Reed also finished his final season at USD ranked seventh (7^th) nationally with four forced fumbles.
 
" I got to see Reed play a lot in his time at USD," said Storm Head Coach Andre Fields. "Reed fits what we look for at the Safety position, the ability to cover space, cover slot receivers, and come downhill and dish punishment."

Prior to joining the Sioux Falls Storm, Reed earned a mini-camp offer from the New York Jets in the Spring of 2022. Reed also spent time with the XFL's Arlington Renegades during the 2023 season.
 
"It's always nice to get local players and provide them a chance to continue their careers," added Fields. "In Reed's case he spent time in the XFL and we hope we can help him get another shot, while helping us win another championship"

Reed represents the first major signing for a Sioux Falls Storm defense that finished near the top of every major category in the Indoor Football league last season, including a league leading 23 interceptions over 18 games (regular & post-season). The Storm's eight (8) forced fumbles were also tied for the league lead at the end of the 2023 season.

The Sioux Falls Storm season begins March 22^nd on the road against the Quad City Steamwheelers before opening the 2024 home schedule on Sunday, April 14^th at 3:05 PM CT against the Tulsa Oilers.
