Taylor White Promoted to Associate Head Coach of UT Tyler Baseball

TYLER, TEXAS – Assistant coach Taylor White has been promoted to the role of Associate Head Coach as announced by UT Tyler baseball on Wednesday.

White retains the role of Recruiting Coordinator through the change and will also continue to work with infielders, hitters, and baserunners.

"I have loved being a part of UT Tyler and the Patriot baseball program," associate head coach White said. "I want to thank Dr. Patterson for his leadership of our athletic department which makes this such a great place to coach. I'd also like to thank Coach Porche for his support and his leadership of our outstanding baseball program. I am so blessed to work alongside Coach Porche, this staff, and these great players every day. UT Tyler and the city of Tyler is home. Kristin and I look forward to calling it home for many years to come!"

White has been an integral part to the Patriots success in their transition to Division II, racking up tremendous recruiting classes and helping develop those players. For the 2022 year, White helped bring the #1 Division II recruiting class to Tyler and it also ranked #16 overall. In the 2021 season, White brought in a JUCO class that ranked #1 amongst Lone Star Conference competition and #4 against all of Division II.

In his coaching career, he has coached a total of 17 players that have gone on to play professional baseball and 18 total All-American honorees.

Head coach Brent Porche had this to say about the promotion of White, "Hiring Taylor in 2018 was one of the best decisions I made as the Head Coach at UT Tyler.  I can say without question, we would not be where we are today as a program without his hard work on the recruiting trail and on the field.  He cares about our guys and the program the same way that I do as the Head Coach, and that is something rare to find in an assistant.  More than that, over the last several years, he and Kristin have become part of our family.  There is no one more deserving of this title than he is. I'm so proud to call him my colleague and friend.  This is a big win for UT Tyler Baseball."
