Char-Koosta News releases full audio of Sheehy after comments allege manipulation

It’s been weeks since Republican U.S. Senate candidate Tim Sheehy’s stereotypical comments on Native Americans were leaked to the media. Now, the full audio recordings are coming to light.
Sheehy has remained silent on the issue -- no apologies or public statements of any kind until last week. When asked on Fox News, he said the audio was chopped up to paint him in a bad light.
“Well listen, they’ll take recordings from years ago, chop them up and make them sound evil,” Sheehy said on Fox News. “To make me sound like somebody I’m not.”
As a response to the claims, Char-Koosta News released the audio in full. The official publication of the Flathead Indian Reservation originally obtained and shared the audio clips.
“Great way to bond with all the Indians is to be out there while they are drunk at 8 a.m. and you’re roping together,” Sheehy said at an event in Shelby on Nov. 6, 2023.
“You know a tough crowd; you want to go to the Crow Res. They’ll let you know whether they like you or not -- there’s Coors Light cans flying by your head. They respect that,” Sheehy said at an event in Hamilton on Nov. 10, 2023.
NBC Montana received the audio files and had the chance to review them ourselves. If you want to listen to the recordings in full, visit charkoosta.com.
The length of the audio ranges from just over 20 minutes to nearly an hour-long recording, but we found the original comments shared with the media. The original comments can be found at the following times:
- Shelby at 25:35
- Helena at 40:27
- Hamilton at 15:40
- Superior at 47:49
We’ve reached out multiple times to Sheehy’s campaign for comment or a chance to interview. We have not heard back on any of our requests.
