Viers, Denholm Added to Iowa Central Men's Basketball Staff

Caleb Viers and Mason Denholm are Iowa Centrals new assistant mens coaches

Iowa Central is pleased to announce the addition of Caleb Viers and Mason Denholm as assistant basketball coaches.

"I am thrilled to officially announce the additions of Mason Denholm and Caleb Viers to our coaching staff," said Triton Head Coach Ryan Kirsch. "We are beyond excited have them join the Triton Basketball family."

Viers is a native of Lone Tree, Iowa. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in exercise science from Central College in Pella in 2022, and a master's degree in sports information and leadership from Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska in 2024.

While at Central College, Viers served as a student coach in 2021 and 2022. He was a graduate assistant for the Midland basketball team for two years and served as head coach of Midland's junior varsity squad.  He is a licensed USA Basketball gold coach.

Viers brings experience in coaching, scouting, recruiting, youth camps and graphic design/social media.

"Coach Viers comes highly recommended from Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska, where he just finished up as a graduate assistant," said Kirsch. "He will aid in all areas of our program, and I am excited to see the daily impact he will have on our student-athletes."

"From the moment I stepped on campus, it was clear to me how deeply committed this institution is to excellence in athletics. I am excited for the opportunity to contribute to the team's success and to be part of a community that values hard work."

Denholm comes to Iowa Central from Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska where he most recently served as assistant men's basketball coach. Prior to coaching at Wayne State, Denholm was assistant men's basketball coach at Grand View University in Des Moines from 2017 to 2019.  While at Grand View, Denholm recruited several academic All-Americans coached the team to its first NAIA National Tournament in over five years. He holds a bachelor's degree in business management and marketing and a Master of Science degree in sports management, both from Grand View University.

Denholm brings to Iowa Central experience in coaching, recruiting, travel planning, fundraising, camps and sports information.

"Coach Denholm and I have known each other for several years, and I have the utmost respect for him," Kirsch said. "He is a tireless worker and approaches each day with an upbeat and positive attitude. His ability to recruit, connect with, and mentor young men is at a high level and we are fortunate to have him, his wife Emily, and daughter Willow here in Fort Dodge."

"I am honored to get the opportunity to join Coach Kirsch and the men's basketball program at Iowa Central," Denholm said. "I am excited to be a part of the Iowa Central community and work with talented people throughout campus. It is an exciting time within men's basketball, and I look forward to helping Coach Kirsch implement his vision for this program. "
