Our Vision

The B.L.A.C.K. Organizer Program — also known as “Black Lifestyle Advocates for Culture and Knowledge (B.L.A.C.K)" — is a Black-led constituency program with residency at Planned Parenthood of Tennessee and North Mississippi. The program was established in 2020 as a safe space to center the experiences of Black Tennesseans seeking to expand access to reproductive rights, justice, and freedom. The program is designed to unapologetically focus on sexual healthcare, all gender affirming education, non-electoral voter education and community engagement, and mobilizing Black people through both virtual and in-person modalities.

Our Mission

  • To decrease abortion stigma and criminalization awareness through legislation, education and power strategies for the progress of  Black voters in Tennessee.
  • To empower Tennessee Black families through comprehensive fertility education, family planning and harm reduction on Black college campuses and relational organizing.

Why Black Organizing Matters in Tennessee

Justin Pearson - TN House Expulsion - April 6, 2023

Why Black Organizing Matters in Tennessee

Viewing the treatment of The Tennessee Three lays bare the racism, sexism and authoritarianism that we face in our state. Watch the expulsion debates that occurred in the TN House on April 6, 2023 and became an historic moment in our national political consciousness.
