Five CHS students place in creative writing contest

Five Carrollton High School students were recognized for their work this week when the Carrollton Creative Writers Guild and Carrollton Civic Woman’s Club announced the winners of its 2024 High School Creative Writing Awards. This annual competition features poetry and short stories by students in grades 9-12.

CMS students recognized for filmmaking

Carrollton Middle School students were recognized for their filmmaking skills in the West Georgia RESA competition. They received first runner-up in the middle school division for their short film "Unlikely Hero," which will now advance to the state-level Georgia Film Academy contest on March 28. The students collaborated on writing, directing, and producing the film. To watch their film, click HERE.

CHS students attend Model UN conference

CHS students Amira Dhople and Haley Rowell recently attended the 38th Kennesaw State University High School Model United Nations Conference. Both students represented the country of Madagascar and served on committees advocating for changes to improve inequities among member states. Amira served on the Economic and Social Council committee whereas Haley served on the World Health Organization committee. During the conference, Amira and Haley along with hundreds of students from across the state wrote and debated resolutions on global issues such as poverty, trade, disease, regional conflict, and the environment.

Dispensing literacy at CES

Carrollton Elementary School has a great addition to the media center – a book vending machine! Students can effortlessly redeem their hard-earned PBIS points to acquire captivating reads. The machine was funded by last year's successful Read-a-Thon fundraiser and is dedicated to enhancing literacy promotion among students.

Powering education at CUES

Mrs. Lorrace Wallace from Georgia Power sparked curiosity at Carrollton Upper Elementary this week! She discussed circuits and showed how electricity flows between objects, captivating students with interactive hands-on activities.

Take advantage of fresh drinking water

Did you know around 71% of the Earth's surface is covered with water and that oceans contain 97% of all the water? That only leaves 3% of water that is suitable for drinking. Some places are not fortunate to have access to plenty of drinking water. Since we are lucky to have access to plenty of fresh water, take advantage and drink up!

Vote for Dr. Albertus!


Carrollton City Schools Superintendent Dr. Mark Albertus was invited to participate in a campaign supporting Ferst Readers of Carroll County. Ferst Readers sends books to children so they can learn before starting school. Dr. Albertus was asked to dress as a story character in competition with other community leaders.
