Carrollton High School seniors, Melvin Ramos and Kelsey Byrge were awarded scholarships through Carroll Electric Membership Corp.’s “Operation Round Up” program. Ready, set, SMILE!

Carrollton City Schools hosted the Special Olympics earlier this week. The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other athletes and the community.

CJHS World History class visits Last Supper exhibit

Carrollton Junior High School World History class had the opportunity to visit The Last Supper Exhibit at the Train Depot earlier this week. Students were able to see a life-size depiction of the masterpiece up close through a stunning reproduction of the painting. The interactive exhibit is comprised of 32 individual installations and a full-size reproduction of the High Renaissance classic, The Last Supper.

CHS Performing Arts presents 'Legally Blonde'

Carrollton High Performing Arts presents “Legally Blonde – The Musical” on Friday, May 5, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 7, at 2 p.m. in the Holcombe Theater of the Mabry Center for the Arts, located on the campus of Carrollton High School. Directed by Tommy Cox with music direction by Julie Lowry. Tickets are $10. Call 770-834-2116 for credit card purchases or more information. Tickets may also be purchased in the Carrollton High School front office, the performing arts office or at the door the night of the show.

Vietnam veteran visits CUES

Vietnam veteran Mr. Larry Wallace visited Carrollton Upper Elementary School and shared his war experience autobiography with fifth-grade students on Tuesday. Mr. Wallace flew in from Orlando, FL after meeting many of CUES students during their most recent trip to Disney as a World Strides representative. He flew 864 Combat missions on a Marine CH-46 Helicopter as a gunner and Crew Chief.

Nine CHS students place in Laws of Life Essay Contest

Nine Carrollton High School students placed in the Georgia Rotary Clubs Laws of Life Essay Contest. The school winner is senior Mark Zimmer. Zimmer also placed fourth in the state competition. Grade winners are freshman Haley Rowell, sophomore John Cobb and eleventh grader Maggie Dudley.
