Everything you need to know about our events.
The Australian Bitcoin Bush Bash is a grassroots, Bitcoin-only weekend-long meetup series that brings Bitcoiners together in regional towns across the country. There are no sponsors, no tickets, and no hype — just real conversations, genuine community, and pure Bitcoin signal.
Anyone interested in Bitcoin is welcome. Whether you’re brand new to Bitcoin or have been running your own node for years, the Bush Bash offers a relaxed, low-key environment to learn, share, and connect.
No. The Bush Bash isn’t a conference. It’s a community-driven experience built on the values of self-sovereignty, openness, and curiosity. Events are free (donations are welcome), KYC-free, and are intentionally structured without corporate influence.
No. Events are free (donations are welcome), and KYC-free. Attendees make their own travel plans and accommodation arrangements. This creates a natural “commitment filter,” attracting people who truly value the experience.
Yes! Families are welcome and we have attendees from 8 to 80. Not everyone attends every session, and everyone is welcome to come and go as they need. Often bringing your partner gives them the opportunity to learn from someone else (anyone but you!).
Yes! Friends are welcome to join. The more people who share in the discussions and community spirit, the richer the experience.
Topics are crowdsourced by attendees and can range widely. Typical subjects include:
Bitcoin fundamentals and technical deep dives
Running nodes and security best practices
Financial sovereignty and privacy
Philosophical discussions about the future of Bitcoin
Community-building, education, and outreach
The focus is always on Bitcoin only — no altcoins, no trading pitches, no distractions.
Across a weekend, you can expect:
Finding your “tribe” and getting answers to questions that have been bugging you
Informal chats, spontaneous presentations, and plenty of “wait, how does that work?” moments
Technical deep dives, philosophical rabbit holes, and good-natured debates
A welcoming mix of beginners, builders, plebs, and long-time Bitcoiners — everyone’s invited
Country pubs, BBQs, and the laid-back magic of the Aussie bush
A different flavour in every regional town, with local organisers cooking up extra adventures like waterfall swims, nature hikes, and whatever else the area does best

Speakers can register with local organisers and details will be posted on each event page.
Absolutely. Anyone is welcome to organise an event in their local community. The only requirements are to uphold the ethos of the Bush Bash — keeping it grassroots, community-driven, free to attend, and Bitcoin-only — and to plan for no overlap with other events.
The Bush Bash began in November 2020 during Australia’s COVID lockdowns. After a long year of isolation, a couple of bitcoiners decided to get together for a weekend of talking Bitcoin. WizardofAus and HodlonComrades chose Murrurundi in the NSW Hunter Valley as a halfway meeting place and set a date.
A few days later, HodlonComrades created a website and tweeted it out to the Twitterverse, inviting any Aussie Bitcoiners who wanted to come along — all welcome.
About 20 people said they’d come, and over 40 Bitcoiners showed up.
A new model for decentralised, volunteer-run, community-driven events was born.
The name captures exactly what it is: an off-track adventure through the Aussie landscape, fuelled by curiosity, financial independence, and the shared belief in a Bitcoin future.
