Aspen, Anderson, and Isabella

Aspen, Anderson and Isabella are now a little over 7 weeks old. They are getting very active, eating like little piglets and since they walk thru their food dishes and water dishes, I stopped putting water in their ex pen. Very smart babies.  If I hear them doing lots of "talking" I open the door to their ex pen and they hightail it into the other room for a drink.
They are developing personalities and love to snuggle in our necks.  We play with them during the day off and on. At night we take them into the TV room with us and play and cuddle with them.  Last night they fell asleep on our laps.  Last time we had puppies, our grand bipeds were here.  Sure do miss their help with babies.  They were great.  Now it's just me trying to catch 3 puppies when they go exploring.
Since they are also eating real food, they now not only pee a lot but have real poop.  We sure go thru the newspapers.  Thanks to all our friends who save papers for us.
They will be spayed and neutered soon and then available for adoption.  Hoping for great homes for them.
Ernie seems to be doing better.  Will know more when we go back to the vet on Wed.  Keeping fingers crossed we are not imagining it and that he is improving.

Hope you all had a nice Christmas!  Sasha watching over Aspen.  Anderson just leaving...

Way to Go Emma!!!

Awesomtastic!!!  Emma was adopted last night and  is home with her new Dad and will get to see her new Grandma a lot.  She is settling in very well and her new Dad emailed and said she was curled up on his lap while he drank his coffee and checked his email.  They loved her at 1st sight and her new dad is really looking forward to walking and playing with her and doing more training and having FUN!  Lucky girl!! Good friends and companions already- how much  better can it get?

Emma ~ Adopted!: Chihuahua, Dog; Issaquah, WAThis is a fairly recent picture of Emma.  Even her ears look more confident ;-)

This was an earlier picture.  Notice her eyes...lookin sad    Always amazing what a little loving and caring can do...

Now we only have the 3 babies as fosters.  They grow every day and are hungry all the time it seems.
They will miss Emma.  She loved to play with them.  Now Chica and Lucas and Sasha will maybe take turns???
Ernie here, just resting and taking it easy in the crate.....I'm thinking maybe it is not so BAD. I have been getting some treats, and more belly rubs etc.  The only thing is I like to be with M & D but am stuck in the crate at night., My new Bed helps...I'll get M to take a pic of my "Temperpedic..) At least that's what I call it.

Update Ernie and Adoptions

Hey Everybuddy,  Ernie here.  Saw Mr Vet (the surgeon) this morning. Thought I was just getting to go for a ride.  Surprise!! We ended up at that place and they took my temp(not fun) and poked and felt my leg.  But, we are going to try for another 2 weeks crate rest.  He wants to see how I do with stricter resting.  I guess I won't be able to "talk" M or D into giving me some freedom.  They can be pushovers if I work it just right.  Something good came of it though.... I got a brand new soft and comfy bed for my crate.  Think I like it.  Maybe crate rest won't be so bad with it.....

Some new pics of the "babies".  They are now 7 weeks old.  They eat like little piglets.

Trying to get M to do more posting. She says the babies are a LOT of work.  BUT fun too.;-)

Good News and not sure yet news

Good Monday Morning all,
The good news is the babies are here.  We picked them up Saturday.  They are SO cute!! 5 weeks old and are really good eaters.  They especially like to walk thru their dish.  Maybe tomorrow I will see if I can find 3 small dishes so they can each have their own. BUT I really think they like the feel of and to walk thru the food.  It's more fun that way....I took a short video clip of them "asking for breakfast".  I hope to get better pics of them individually sometime today so potential adopters and view them on PetFinder.
Anderson is the darkest one and a boy, Isabella is the mostly white one with the dark patch over one eye and one front leg that is dark, and Aspen is the brindle girl. They are all very sweet and we are enjoying them and socializing, and holding, and playing, etc........

We woke up to a cold FROSTY morning today.  Had an early vet appointment for Ernie.  Here is the  not sure yet part of the news.  His leg is still causing him problems so we had to leave him at the Vet and they were going to do xrays.  He knew something was up and put on the brakes and didn't want to go with them --- until I stood next to him and started to walk along.  Then he manned up and went along... We will be picking him up sometime this afternoon.  We are keeping fingers crossed but right now do not have a really good feeling about it.  Please keep him in your thoughts..thanks.

Real Enjoyment of Snow!!! & New babies coming.....

Hope you enjoy this video as much as the dog playing in the snow!  Have seen it before but still is good to watch.  Have a good weekend!!  M saw this on YouTube. See comment from Baileys pawrents.

"Hi folks. Thank you for all your warm comments and here are some answers to your questions: I shot this video on VHS-C in my backyard, near Ward, Colorado (8,700' elevation) during a blizzard in the late 1990's; a local weatherman said it was the most measureable snow (if memory serves, it was 54" in 48 hours) from the least amount of moisture ever. Cheers to dogs, and to all those that love them! Please be well and Happy Holidays!!!

Noam now known as KOJI

Mom here... Couldn't help myself.  We heard from Noam's adoptive pawrents.  Awesome - I am so happy.  BTW he now has a new name--- KOJI.  Much more fitting than Noam.  An awesome pup and so missed.  BUT super happy that he has found a fantastic new home with people who seem to really love him already. I included their comments cuz I want to remember them.  Made my eyes leak to read it.  Good news is always welcome!!!

Image
This is such a wonderful little dog; we're having a great time, without any potty or chewing accidents.  He's sleeping in his crate until 6:30 am, goes outside, then gets in bed with us, scoots under the covers and goes right to sleep.  He's in the crate during our dinner, but has already earned (supervised) house freedom.  We're working on barking at the neighbors, but he clearly is not a noisy dog.  He likes the long walks and waters all the ferns, but otherwise stays close to my left leg, which is my choice.  He waded into the river and seemed to enjoy that yesterday.  He's such a "quick study," and is such a joy to play with and have around the house.  Good traveler, too.  Well-socialized, well-mannered, sweet disposition.  A great find for us, for sure!
No little thanks to you and your organization. (PUP People United for Pets) Please tell his foster mom how much we are enjoying him, and that all of her hard work has certainly paid off.

Hope you all have a great day!! Love you all and so glad you drop by from time to time to visit.

Chew Fest and Santa- Noam Adopted!!!

Hi everybuddy, It's me Ernie and  you won't see any pictures of me in this one.  I have been laying low and taking it easy( not so easy sometimes).  Taking it easy is NOT an easy thing to do...What are they thinking?????   I have been staying upstairs so I don't have to do so many stairs.  Most every pup and peep here are usually downstairs in the basement doing stuff.  I however must stay upstairs so I won't be running up and down them. I have another VET appointment next Monday.  My leg still isn't back to where it should be.  D says they will probly do xrays.  Never had one. Not sure I want one.
Image
A peaceful evening of chewing for Noam and Emma 2 of our foster pups..

Image
A fuzzy picture but Lucas, Chica and Noam are really getting into their chewies.  Mom calls them Nylabones.  She says it is pretty noisy when all 6 of us are chewing at the same time.
Image
Lucas in stripes and Chica in blue camo. Mom would like to find some pink camo for Chica.  I woofed to her that she best go shopping.  She liked that idea....
Image

Just another view of the 2 little ones sleeping.  They like to cuddle.
Image
M and D were at an adoption event a week ago. They took Noam and Emma. Santa was enjoying all the foster pups PUP(People United for Pets) brought.    A REAL photographer was there and donated his time so we could have some really nice pics of the pups needing homes.  This pic is of Emma and she wasn't really into sitting with Santa. Do ya think is was because they put  antlers on her????
Image
"Oh please please take them off.  I don't care if they show me off better.  I have a beautiful, shiny black coat and some white spotted feet..Isn't that enough?"
Image
Noam LOVED Santa.  He even de-bearded him.  Santa was laughing so hard!!!
Image

Noam just couldn't help himself!!!
Image
Noam you are so handsome in this picture.  A beautiful smart boy!!! The BEST thing is Noam was adopted on 12/3 Saturday by 2 very nice men who travel and who loved him on sight and plan to take him with them.  Wishing you the best Noam!  We miss you!!!  Also, Noam knew how to work them.  He showed off his sit, wait and layed  down at their  feet without being told.  What a guy!
Image
Santa trying to get Emma's antlers on straight.  Kind of a losing battle.
Emma is a very sweet girl and M is now going to focus on her and getting her a loving home too.

Thanks for visiting us.  We enjoy hearing from all of you.

Hi all, Chica and Lucas here.   Just want all to know we Chi's are not all foofoo dogs. Just cuz we are small doesn't mean we can't be athletic and smart - like us ya know.....  We like to hike, play, run, AND if it is cold we will settle for the muscle shirts mom makes us.

Happy Thanksgiving

Image

Hi all our furiends, We wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.  We have a lot to be thankful for.  Not the least of which is that at Sunday's adoption event, 14 pups were adopted.  That IS a GOOD thing.  Another transport is scheduled for about the 1st week in December.  There is no end to the number of pups that need homes.  Sad but true!
Oh yes, I am still having to take it easy and am having a hard time.  A couple of times I have taken off running out the back door.  Nothing better than being able to go outside to poop not connected to a leash. How fun is that???  Of course M wasn't very happy with me for sneaking past her with all the other pups.  I am doing better but still favoring  my leg.  I did forget about it when I ran outside earlier.... maybe it is getting better.
Have a good Thanksgiving.

Assistance Dogs Veterans

It  is a little late for the actual Veterans Day post BUT I think this is wonderful and it just goes to show HOW special us dogs can be and how much we can do for our peeps.   Mom saw this on    http://dogblog.dogster.com/2011/11/11/veterans-day-special-assistance-dog-gives-vet-back-his-life/#more-42788
and asked my opinion.  I agreed and here it is.

Image
Navy Master at Arms 1st Class Orlando Rivera and Sweet Pea, who has helped him regain his life

These are a couple of the Vets included in the article.  How great is it that they have received a furiend like us to help them!!!   Our D is a veteran but wasn't hurt in a war - he had a MAJOR stroke a bunch a years back and we hear stories of how great the Siberians (Niki  and Bo)M & D had who helped him during the really bad times.  Now we are here and give him lots of love and keep him on his toes - so to bark.  Someday M says she would like to do a post on them.  Dad made up a scrapbook of pictures of them for Mom's birthday a FEW years back.  She hasn't been able to find it lately.  She has a couple of pics of them but the best ones were in the scrapbook.  She says she will keep looking....

It's the Journey - Adoptions

Hi, Mom here.  Saturday we (PUP People United for Pets) had an adoption event. Incredible!! 10 pups were adopted!!! Such a good feeling to see them go to loving homes and to see the connections between foster and new family.  Noam and Emma are still with us, but we know the right home will come along for them.

I have always like the portion of a poem that says " It's the journey - not the destination".  I hadn't ever seen the poem in it's entirety - so thought I would include it.  I included pictures of paths we have been on.

It's The Journey That's Important
By John McLeod
Life, sometimes so wearying
Is worth its weight in gold
The experience of traveling
Lends a wisdom that is old
Beyond our 'living memory'
A softly spoken prayer:
"It's the journey that's important,
Not the getting there!"
Ins and outs and ups and downs
Life's road meanders aimlessly?
Or so it seems, but somehow
Leads us where we need to be,
And being simply human
We oft question and compare...
"Is the journey so important
Or the getting there?"
And thus it's always been
That question pondered down the ages
By simple men with simple ways
To wise and ancient sages...
How sweet then, quietly knowing
Reaching destination fair:
"It's the journey that's important,
Not the getting there!"

Hope you all had a fun weekend.  BTW Ernie seems to still be improving.  Still having to take it easy and limit (no stairs) stairs as much as possible.  Hard for him because he loves to run and also go up and down the stairs at will.....

Surprise!!! and Cousin Murphy

Image
Hi Sasha here,  M & D went to a transport Saturday night.  45 dogs were coming in from CA. This little girl, Monica was one of them.  Her babies were born a couple of days before the transport left CA.  No one knew if her babies would be born at the shelter OR in the van on the way up.  Luckily they were born before the trip up.   Picture is of Monica and her  babies at the high kill shelter in CA right after the 9 babies were born.  Imagine 9 babies and Monica is only about 17 pounds.
Image

Monica seems like a very good Mom and is taking good care of all 9 who are healthy too.  5 males and 4 females.

Image
We couldn't go for the ride to the meeting site but M took pics.  Looks very busy. 45 pups came up this time.  It was the largest transport so far. Included were 2 mamas with their babies.   13 babies between them.

Image
Fosters getting their new pups.

Image
M was wishing she could have gotten more pics of the new pups but mostly all she got was of their crates.   It was hectic getting them all checked in and vaccinating those that needed it.   But GOOD!

Image
This is Murphy our cousin.  Didn't he look sad?  His Mom & Dad left him with us so they could go to the Sounders Soccer game.  I like him.  He isn't sure about being in this house full of dogs.  He is an only dog (at least for now)  so, he's not quite sure of  this houseful.     Wishing you all a furry good week.  Later      Sasha for the pack

PS:  Mom here.  Evidently the first 2 pictures of Monica didn't come thru for most people/pups.  So I gave it another try to see if I could do it correctly.  Hopefully this worked.

Cute Pup

Image

Cute Pup - not sure how he got there but I liked the comment.  He has a furry cute face.  How could anyone NOT get him out of the predicament......
Have a good day!

Mom Barb - taking over for the day.

PS:  Things are good.  Ernie does seem better. Keeping fingers crossed. Giving him a tiny bit more freedom. Not sure if it is a good thing BUT he is on leash outside and is getting to spend time in Liv Rm, Din Rm & kitchen(places where he can't jump or go up or down stairs) - not the jail  crate.

Count the Day & Making Progress

Image
Hi furiends,  It's me Lucas. That's me in the lower left corner. I am known as Mr. Easygoing.  But Emma (the lady in black), and Noam( with the really curly tail) don't really like to share.  M says they have come a long way since they came to be with us for a while.  M was surprised how close they/we were while chewing on bones.
Image
Not really my best side but does show one of my cute ears.  Poor Emma, she is so dark about the only thing we can see of her is her shiny black coat and a little white on her foot.

Hope everyone had a good Howloween.  We  had MORE scary visitors than we had in a long time. Maybe 30.  New people moved in the neighborhood with little ones.

Mom saw this poem and thought she would like to share it.   I looked it over and liked it too so I gave my OK. Lately she has been checking out poems - she says they sometimes say things better than she can.  Oh well, whatever.

Count That Day Lost
By George Eliot
If you sit down at set of sun
And count the acts that you have done,
And, counting, find
One self-denying deed, one word
That eased the heart of him who heard,
One glance most kind
That fell like sunshine where it went-
Then you may count that day well spent.
But if, through all the livelong day,
You've cheered no heart, by yea or nay-
If, through it all
You've nothing done that you can trace
That brought the sunshine to one face-
No act most small
That helped some soul and nothing cost-
Then count that day as worse than lost.

*******
BTW Ernie  doing a bit better it seems.  Still not doing stairs (or not supposed to).  He is sneaky that way sometimes.  M says he is getting something called "cabin fever".  Thank you to everyone who has been wishing him well.  Evidently these things sometimes take a while.

Serene Sunday

Image
I Ernie am still on crate rest.  NOT my favorite thing.  Dr Vet said to continue with it for at least a couple more weeks.  This is getting old.  Missing my walks and play time.  If Mom thinks these pics are gonna make up for missing my walks, she is way off base.    OKOKOK I'm done whining.  I do get good treats with my meds. That's not so bad. Almost makes them worth taking.... BOL.
The top 2 pictures of yesterday's sunset, were taken by someone else and submitted to the West Seattle Blog.  This was taken when the Sunset was at it's peak.

Image
The same person took this one at the beginning of the Sunset.
Image
This picture and the rest of them were taken by Mom from our backyard.  I told her she didn't need to show all of them, but she really likes Sunsets and Sunrises and couldn't decide  - so there you go....

We are so lucky!!

Image
Hi furiends., Sasha here.  We are so lucky!! M & D brought home another playmate for us.  This is his picture and his name is NOAM.  As close as people can tell he is part Spitz and Basenji.  We haven't seen him spit at all.  His face in person/pup looks like part Cattle Dog/Heeler.  I liked him the minute they walked in the door with him. It doesn't really matter what he is.  He is smart, walks well on a leash and is sturdy.  He will make some peeps a great companion for walking, hiking, running, and being their furiend.  He can be independent so it will be good for him to find a home that will continue his training and stuff.
Image
Emma is still with us. She has a new picture.  It was taken at an adoption event M & D took her to on Saturday. She is doing well.  M took her on a long walk and she really loved it.  She also has a lot of energy and will be good for people who are active and like to do walk, hike, run and play with her. She likes to cuddle and play with other dogs too.
