Palestine has been subject to an illegal occupation for many decades. The Israeli military have, for
years, imposed harsh military laws on Palestinians on their own land.
Illegal Israeli settlers, along with their military, have attacked and murdered scores of Palestinians [1]

Gaza has become an open-air prison [3],
with the land, air and sea blockade imposed since 2007 [4].
The imbalance of military power
Palestine has no land army, air force or navy [5].
Under the illegal occupation, the Palestinians have been denied the ability to develop a military [6],
whilst their oppressor possesses advanced military capabilities. This has resulted in a significant
imbalance of military power, which has effectively enabled the countless acts of brutality towards
innocent Palestinians.
The current massacre
Over 70,000 Palestinians have been killed [7],
most of whom were women and children. Many hospitals and other medical facilities have been rendered
inoperable or completely destroyed [8].
Medical staff have been forced to perform amputations on children, in the absence of anaesthesia [9].
Children, whilst waiving white flags, have been shot dead by IOF snipers [10].
Civilian bodies are decomposing on the streets [11].
Journalists and aid workers - brave men and women who willingly put themselves in harm's way to help others - are
being stripped naked, humiliated, tortured, and in some cases, murdered by IOF soldiers

Hind and her family were fleeing Gaza City when their vehicle was attacked by an IOF tank
[18],
killing Hind's aunt, uncle, and four cousins (Sana, 13, Raghad, 12, Mohammed, 11, and Sarah, 4)

Hind, along with her cousin Layan, 15, survived the first attack [20].
Seeking assistance, Layan managed to contact the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) - "They are
shooting at us. The tank is right next to me. We're in the car, the tank is right next to us."

Layan was heard screaming as she was killed under the sound of machine gun fire, whilst on the
line with PRCS responders [22].
The line disconnected shortly after. When the PRCS responders reestablished contact, Hind
informed them that Layan was dead [23].
The little girl, still stranded in the vehicle with the corpses of her relatives, remained on
the line for several hours, pleading for assistance - "I'm so scared, please come. Come take
me. Please, will you come?" [24].
Two PRCS responders were dispatched in an attempt to bring Hind to safety. The responders
reported being targeted by the IOF. The PRCS lost contact with both responders shortly after
[25].
Twelve days later, Hind's body was discovered alongside the bodies of her relatives
[26].
The bodies of the two PRCS responders were found a few meters from where Hind's body was discovered
[27].
A preliminary investigation by the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor, an independent human
rights organisation, concluded that Hind was murdered by the IOF, as part of a "planned execution"
[28].
The investigation also found that a US-made missile was used to murder the two PRCS responders who
attempted to reach Hind
[29].
A subsequent investigation by the Forensic Architecture research group concluded that an IOF tank
had likely fired 335 rounds at the vehicle in which Hind and her family were found, and that the
IOF soldiers operating the tank were likely to have been able to see the civilians in the vehicle
[30].
Shaban al-Dalou, 19, aspiring software engineer
Shaban al-Dalou, sometimes known as Shaban Ahmed, was a Palestinian student at the al-Azhar
University (recently destroyed by the IOF [34]

Shaban was aspiring to be a software engineer [36].
Despite being displaced on 5 separate occasions, Shaban continued his studies and hoped to flee to
Egypt with his family [37].
Shaban was receiving treatment at the al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital after surviving an IOF strike on a
mosque that killed over twenty people

The IOF bombed the courtyard of the al-Asqa Martyrs hospital, where Shaban and his mother were
sleeping [40].
Videos of Shaban burning alive began circulating shortly after

Shaban's mother, Ala’a Abdel Nasser al-Dalou, also burned alive in the same attack

Some days later, Shaban's ten-year-old brother died from injuries he received from the same IOF attack
