a birthday

when i found out my due date was feb 29th i always said it would be easier to wait and have this baby in march. abe was born in feb. i wanted them to have their own birth month. these are the weird things i fuss over. well. murphy's law applies. of course the baby was born not only in feb. but ONE day BEFORE abe's birthday. so. i'm sorry abe. last year we moved in on your birthday this year you had your birthday in the hospital. and had to share your styrofoam cup of vanilla ice cream and slice of chocolate cake. next year i owe you one.

it has been a whole year since we made the move to the dc area.
we have really loved it.

growing and growing

not that there is much to say about the growing. it is inevitable. every mom (and dad) knows it. one day you turn around and your kids are huge and smart and so much bigger than you ever thought they would be. like every other mom, i echo the question,
'when did they grow up?'
lately eli will not leave the house unless he has a super hero shirt on and his running shoes.
he begs me to 'please do the laundry' just so i can wash his favorite superman shirt.
lately abe just screams. about everything. even my friends at the pool were commenting on how hard he is and that they feel worn out just watching him. he is pretty demanding, but starting to talk and say real words even ask simple questions, 'no' being a favorite. but you might have guessed that already.
lately brady passed the written part of the fsot!!!! wahoo. 2 more rounds to go.
lately i am just the same. trying to start running again. boo. the first few weeks are the hardest for me then i get back in the habit. (oh and i am a new aunt as of yesterday, pictures to come)
also just waiting to plan some super visits for those of you who would be so lucky.......come see me.........please?

seven years later

after seven years we are still madly in love.

i mean, who could resist this 'man'imal attraction?

(surely someone out there feels bad for me, even if it is just a little....)

can someone please tell me where this furry little red baby went? i can't remember and i think i have lost him to the ways of 15 months and counting.
in our house that means
-'no' and 'me' are part of everyday vocabulary
-when something is wanted, crying loudly with mouth wide open is a very useful skill
-mom is a sucker. enough said
-pointing at the freezer and crying loudly results in some sort of popsicle or otter pop
-if older brother gets too close crying loudly gets him to move away
-throwing stuff at him works too
-if there is unwanted food left on the plate, tipping it onto the floor empties it quickly
-restaurants are overrated and boring. cry and don't stop, eating in the car is more fun
-going to bed without a fight means everything else gets overlooked
he has figured me out. and that cute face with dimples on both cheeks plus those red curls doesn't hurt his cause either. but why does 15 months have to be such a war zone?! we love our abie.
