Kittens...

A couple weeks ago, we had some friends spend the night, before we all went to bed we had to put the shutters on the balcony down. As our friend was putting them, down he said that he saw a cat jump in the pull-behind shopping cart (see picture below). We didn’t want her to get stuck in the balcony for the night so we tried to get her out.

Well, as we dumped her out (which ended up not being easy), she started hissing at us. We soon found out why, as we dumped out 4 cute little kittens! We knew we couldn’t touch them & hoped they would find their way back into the cart. We left a bit of the shutters open so the mama cat could get in & out and headed to bed.

To make a long story short, they all got back into the cart eventually, later we transferred them to a box, and eventually off the balcony. We fed mama cat a little bit because felt a bit of responsibility since she decided to have her kittens on our balcony. Unfortunately not all of the kittens have made it & we’ll have to find out from the other family that’s moving back in if the others make it. But we did our best to help our mama cat and kittens!

Beer or a Box?

Well, as you can tell we’ve been on a blogging hiatus, mainly because we’ve been so busy! We’ve moved to our new city. We are both excited & a little nervous/anxious as we have to start again, it seems. We’ll try to post a little bit everyday to help you all catch up on our life, and hear a few stories, since we’ve mostly just posted pictures recently.

One fun story happened about a month ago when we started packing up to move. I (Lynn) needed a box to put some of our things in. Someone had suggested to just ask at the local grocery store. So I thought I’d try out my language & go for it. We hadn’t really learned the word for “extra” but thought we’d seen it spelled out as “ekstra” before so off I went. I asked the nice cashier who I though finally understood me, and she asked “one?” only it’s “bir” (sounded out like beer). So I said that one would be great! Well she told the stock boy to go get me one….

Only when he returned he had a 6-pack of Ekstra Efes Beer… she thought I wanted beer. And their word for beer is quite similar “bira”, which sounds like “one” so we had a misunderstanding. I said that’s not what I wanted & 3 stock boys then all took me back to the cooler section to show me other beer options – none of which I wanted. I eventually managed to explain that I wanted a cardboard box, got one, and then I was on my way home.
