Bolder Boulder

The morning before we flew home Hannah, Annette and I participated in the Bolder Boulder- a 10K race that felt more like a carnival and a parade had a baby. It was crowded with thousands of runners, but the atmosphere was exhilarating. Along the entire course were musicians and bands, belly dancers, slip and slides, people using squirt guns on the runners, and a plethora of other fun and exciting things. I hadn't trained at all so it was more of a survival experience than a race, but it was a ton of fun. The best part was finishing in the Colorado University stadium. The runners entered in by the field and finished the race by running around the track to the cheers of those participants who had already finished sitting in the stands. The jumbotron was airing footage of everyone running by and it was so energizing! What a great way to end a trip with the sisters.

At the finish line. Do you see the crowds behind us?

Unfortunately we had to leave all too soon. It was a super fun trip with the girls and I am so glad we could go. Here we are at the airport for one last selfie.

Here are the babies saying: "We're so tired mom! Can we please be home yet?" Our flight had been delayed two hours so they were exhausted by the time we got underway. But we managed and got the babies home just fine.

Emma's First Flight on Our Trip to Denver

Last week Jeremy surprised Hannah and I with a trip to Denver to celebrate Annette's birthday. Of course we said yes because who turns down a girls weekend? It was a blast! We flew out on Saturday and Emma was a trooper. The whole process went pretty smoothly and I am so proud of her. Here she is on the plane:

We spent an evening and the next day strolling the streets of Vail ski resort which is a beautiful town with fun sculptures, restaurants, and little parks for kids to play on. I would love to spend more than one night there. Our condo was also spectacular and we felt completely spoiled to be there. We also visited Beaver Creek resort for the Blue, Brews, and BBQs festival, but it had unfortunately been rained out before we got there so it was a somewhat subdued affair.

We then drove home and got in late- just in time to go to bed.

Finally Finished

I started this quilt a year ago for 4H sewing camp. It's a disappearing 9 patch and I had the top finished, the back on, and had it tied within a week of starting it. After tying it I decided I'd rather quilt it because I wanted it to last longer. So it sat and sat in my sewing room waiting for the day I would work on it again. A year passed and I finally got it quilted and started the binding. Unfortunately after getting through half of the binding I realized I didn't have enough so mom helped me get creative and we found a fabric the piece something together. Again it sat and sat until the other day when I finally finished it. It's not perfect and I let a lot of things slide, but it's done and that's all I care about! One project down, ten more to go.

The beginning of the process laying out my pieces vs. the final product, binding done.

What Dads Do

Jake is so excited for Emma to get to the interactive stage. He loves playing with her and teasing her. Here are just a couple of funny dad moments:

Apparently most of his antics include putting her clothes on her head. But he also takes her to the park and goes down the slide with her. He tickles her, plays peek-a-boo, tosses her in the air, and is so good to her. What a great dad!

Rolling Over!

She did it! She rolled over from her belly to her back! I love these milestones and watching her progress and learn. It's so exciting to experience the world with her.
