*NOTE âforeign filmâ is, like everything, a dumb made up concept. itâs a concept that has A LOT to do with race/economics and imo isnât just a matter of âX film has British director so itâs foreignâ âY film has American producers so itâs Americanâ the purpose of this list, for me, is to expand my horizons. so like putting a film like âDunkirkâ as a foreign film isnât something I want to do because while it does have a British director and cast and producers it is also an American blockbuster, itâs not a film Trump would complain about winning Best Picture while âParasiteâ is,âŠ

hopefully this makes sense and clarifies how I classify certain films on here. I really appreciate being able to have these conversations here and again want to say thank you to everyone thatâs contributed to this list :-)
ALSO I love how collaborative this list is and am trying to get on top of suggestions so please continue to suggest film pairings (especially any African, Middle Eastern or South American cinema!) I am going to try to add a little description to entries so please include that with future suggestions thank you!! đđ
