Really unique! At first glance this looks like it’s going to be just another generic ’Friday the 13th meets The Hills Have Eyes’ but as it goes on it really takes it’s time building a sense of place. Incredible use of the environment, not so predictable as I thought and an amazing final kill.
This movie really picked up in the later half when it surrenders any attempts at dialogue or sensible plot. Great sense of place and sweet gory kills !

To me this is the most perfect version of the Dracula/Nosferatu-story. The unholy trinity of Adjani, Kinski and Ganz infuses this worn-out tale with so much emotion and terror that it seems vibrant and new.

I figured out the best way to watch this was to just sink into it - as is the case with most Lovecraftian tales. Loved the vibes and the imagery. Wish that I’d seen this one late night television as a kid, it would’ve traumatized me.
