has some pretty great jokes (the central park rangers bit is hysterical) but most importantly this movie is just effortlessly charming. idk how they did it but by the time it was over i found myself liking it so much more than i thought i would've. somehow my first ever watch. i respect you buddy
what a uniquely beautiful feature. this is my first takeshi film and i'm not too sure if this is what i was expecting at all, i mean parts of it are but what seemed like a standard yakuza movie very quickly turns into something almost completely different soon after they land in okinawa. a brilliant exercise in building up a quiet, nearly dream-like atmosphere before it's undercut by the vicious and harsh reality of the situation that looms over ourβ¦
weapons is fucking awesome!!!! writing this way after having actually seen it but as someone who hasn't seen a whole lot of horror this was SO much fun! phenomenal acting all around, pretty good character writing (i really like justine like a lot), a really intriguing mystery with a cool explanation that doesn't just give the whole game away, some pretty great scares, and generally just a very satisfactory use of its incredibly original and interesting premise. but also so,β¦
