I liked the first film, I kinda love the new one, solidifying itself as a franchise for a new generation. 
Another sequel that takes a lighter, goofier tone a la EVIL DEAD 2 with wilder tonal shifts (better than STEPFATHER 2) that keep things fresh and unpredictable, especially the last 20 min…holy shit. 
These films are like the horror WHITE LOTUS; you could essentially put CW anywhere, shoot the hell out of the location and you’re golden. 
Writer/Director Harder doubles down on the unconventional structure - love how the opening title card, like the last film, drops 30 min in the film, for example - and it makes the audience keep guessing where its gonna go…and satisfyingly, it kept me satisfyingly on-edge.

Feels like a massive step down from the first film. The plot is full of holes, the pacing drags, and the characters make dumb, frustrating choices. A sequel wasn’t necessary and adds nothing of value.
