I'm usually very picky when it comes to body horror. A lot of the time, it feels like films in the genre are more focused on shock value than storytelling. The disturbing imagery and brutality end up becoming the whole point, and I just can't connect with that.
That's why Titane surprised me so much. Maybe the genre isn't the problem when the storytelling is this good. When there's something meaningful beneath all the madness, the body horror stops feeling…
