Easily the least funny scary movie by a long shot. No real comedy at all. Just tried to make relatable references the entire time. I literally fell asleep. I’ve never fallen asleep in a movie theater in my entire life. I almost left the theater early. If you’re thinking about going to this just don’t. I’ll never get that time back.
Not sure how to describe this movie really. Visually I feel like it really captured the backrooms vibe. Confusing in the way that it should be. Story wise it lacked. There was no real draw to the storyline. I’m not sure if the backrooms can really be a good movie if I’m being honest. It might just be one of those things that’s concept is best left on 4chan. Liminal spaces are creepy on their own, but trying to make a movie on the creepy aspect of liminal spaces feels unobtainable. A24 did what they could with it but I don’t see myself rewatching anytime soon.

Guillermo del Toro does it again. Beautifully written and shot. A new twist on a classic. A lot of practical effects and actual good CGI for a change. A breath of fresh air.
A couple of things that didn’t quite make sense to me hence why I didn’t give it a 5 but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Victor did not deserve forgiven at all and may he rot in hell.
