I can't believe one of the most famous lines in film history worked on me, but I sobbed like a baby

Reininger does stuff with light in this feature that I've literally never seen before in a film, the sort of stuff that's impossible with any animation style used today. worth a watch just for that, but luckily it's also a romp, tons of big laughs and luxurious colors.

truly one of the worst pieces of crap I have suffered through in my entire life. of course it won the Oscar.

as perfect a crime film as I've ever seen. incredible New York accents and subway footage, surprisingly funny, and really tightly edited. for years I thought when people talked about how great this movie was they were talking about the 2009 remake, didn't even know the original existed. so glad I caught this at the music box
