I expected this to be like Logan (2017) for obvious reasons, but the biggest thing the two have in common is their relation to Unforgiven (1992).
Above all else, these are all movies about stories. The stories we tell ourselves and others about our glory days- which are so easily distorted with time. As we get older, these stories become more hyperbolic, and if you are naive enough to believe them word for word 40 years later, they become corrosive.
However, it is also like Logan in the way that Hugh Jackman murders people in the most unfathomably brutal ways possible.
