15 Must-See Explainer Video Examples in 2026

,  August 19, 2020.  Last update June 23, 2026

Over the years, my team and I have created explainer videos for businesses in a wide range of industries, from healthcare and fintech to construction, education, and consumer products.

I’ve came to a conclusion that there’s no single formula for a successful explainer video. Every industry has its own challenges, audience expectations, and communication style.

In this article, I’m sharing 15 explainer video examples we’ve produced and the creative thinking behind each one. Beyond the animation styles and visuals, you’ll see how different industries require different approaches to simplify complex ideas, build trust, and connect with the right audience.

Why Do Different Industries Need Different Explainer Videos?

Different industries have different audiences, challenges, and ways of communicating. As a result, the most effective explainer videos adapt their storytelling, visuals, and messaging to match the specific needs of the industry and the people they are trying to reach.

This matters more than many businesses realize. According to a report by Twilio, 81% of consumers say it’s difficult to communicate with businesses, while only 34% of businesses acknowledge that their communication needs improvement.

In other words, many companies believe they’re delivering the right message when, in reality, their audience isn’t connecting with it.

No two industries communicate in the same way. A healthcare company may need to simplify complex scientific concepts, while a consumer brand might focus on entertainment and emotional appeal.

The most effective explainer videos are tailored not only to the product or service being promoted but also to the expectations, challenges, and decision-making processes of the target audience.

What Makes a Great Explainer Video? 15 Industry Examples

The best explainer videos are tailored to the industry, audience, and message they serve. Below are 15 examples that demonstrate how different creative approaches can turn complex concepts into engaging and memorable stories.

1) App and Software – HealMate

Medical Explainer Video for HealMate | Animated 3D Elements

We‌ ‌are‌ ‌fully‌ ‌aware‌ ‌that‌ ‌healthcare‌ ‌products‌ ‌or‌ ‌services‌ ‌tend‌ ‌to‌ ‌have‌ ‌techy‌ ‌explanations.‌ ‌That’s‌ ‌why‌ ‌we‌ ‌utilize‌ ‌the‌ ‌power‌ ‌of‌ ‌storytelling‌ ‌with‌ ‌a‌ ‌concise‌ ‌script‌ ‌in‌ ‌this‌ ‌explainer‌ ‌video.‌ ‌It‌ ‌makes‌ ‌the‌ ‌viewers‌ ‌retain‌ ‌crucial‌ ‌information‌ ‌about‌ ‌HealMate‌ ‌much‌ ‌better‌ ‌and‌ ‌faster.‌

With‌ ‌storytelling‌ ‌and‌ ‌narrative-driven‌ ‌characters,‌ ‌it‌ ‌doesn’t‌ ‌waste‌ ‌‌time‌ ‌building‌ ‌up‌ ‌to‌ ‌a‌ point‌ ‌or‌ ‌explaining‌ ‌a‌ ‌problem.‌ ‌This‌ ‌easy‌ ‌to‌ ‌follow‌ ‌flow‌ ‌makes‌ ‌the‌ ‌explanation‌ ‌make‌ ‌more‌ ‌sense‌ ‌even‌ ‌for‌ ‌a‌ ‌viewer‌ ‌that‌ ‌isn’t‌ ‌familiar‌ ‌with‌ ‌any‌ ‌mobile‌ ‌healthcare‌ ‌app‌ ‌before.‌

We‌ ‌are‌ also ‌proud‌ ‌of‌ ‌how‌ ‌we‌ ‌use‌ ‌simple‌ ‌and‌ ‌minimal‌ ‌3D‌ ‌elements‌ ‌to‌ ‌convey‌ ‌a‌ ‌powerful‌ ‌and‌ ‌personal‌ ‌message.‌ ‌Not‌ ‌to‌ ‌mention‌ ‌rich‌ ‌color‌ ‌palettes‌ ‌that‌ ‌enhance‌ ‌the‌ ‌visual,‌ ‌keeping‌ ‌the‌ ‌viewers’‌ ‌eyeballs‌ ‌attached‌ ‌to‌ ‌the‌ ‌screen‌ ‌until‌ ‌the‌ ‌video‌ ‌ends.‌

2) Blockchain and Cryptocurrency – Zeux

Blockchain Explainer Video for Zeux | 3D Motion Graphic

Blockchain products often carry a sense of innovation and forward-thinking, so we wanted the visual style for Zeux to reflect that from the very first frame.

The sleek motion design, fine-line graphics, and futuristic aesthetic help establish the brand as modern and technology-driven while creating a visual language that feels consistent with the world of digital finance.

Rather than trying to visualize every technical detail, we used animation as a guide. Elements appear progressively throughout the video, directing attention to the most important ideas at the right moment.

Also, a concise script and a strong focus on Zeux’s brand colors make the video more polished explainer and feels sophisticated without becoming difficult to follow.

3) Cybersecurity – Banyan Security

Motion Graphics Video for Banyan Security

With cybersecurity, adding more information doesn’t always create more understanding. For Banyan Security, we intentionally stripped the visuals down to their essentials, using clean motion graphics and bold typography to keep the viewer focused on the message rather than the mechanics behind it.

What makes this project effective is its ability to create clarity from complexity. The animation moves with purpose, introducing ideas only when they are needed and guiding viewers through the story without overwhelming them.

Keeping the design concise and direct is actually the key for us to communicate a sophisticated security solution in a way that feels accessible, confident, and easy to trust.

4) Education – Keystone Academic

Motion With Character Explainer Video for Keystone Academic

Educational services succeed when they make complex decisions feel less overwhelming. For Keystone Academic, we focused on the challenges students face when exploring their academic options and built the story around those real experiences.

Addressing the problem first helped us to create an immediate connection with viewers before introducing the solution.

The playful animation style, relatable characters, and distinctive voiceover help make the topic feel approachable and engaging. Rather than listing features or making sales-driven claims, we used visual storytelling and simple analogies to show how Keystone Academic supports students throughout their journey.

This approach keeps the message informative, human, and easy to remember long after the video ends.

5) Fintech – VirtuSwap

Explainer Video Animation for VirtuSwap

Financial technology products often face a unique challenge: they need to inspire confidence while introducing concepts that can feel unfamiliar or intimidating.

For VirtuSwap, we approached the video as a guided journey, focusing on clarity and momentum rather than technical explanations.

This allowed us to introduce the platform in a way that feels approachable to both experienced users and newcomers alike.

To support that experience, we combined character animation, fluid transitions, and energetic motion graphics that keep the story moving forward.

The bright voiceover and conversational script help break down complex ideas into digestible insights, making the platform easier to understand and more engaging to explore.

Rather than feeling like a product pitch, the video invites viewers to discover the value of the service naturally as the story unfolds.

6) Healthcare – Charted Scientific

Explainer Video for Charted Scientific | 3D Hybrid Motion Graphic

Healthcare and scientific innovations often involve processes that are impossible to capture with a camera and difficult to explain with words alone.

For Charted Scientific, we used a hybrid animation approach that combines 2D motion graphics with 3D elements, allowing us to visualize highly specialized concepts such as biomarker detection and single-cell imaging in a way that feels both accurate and accessible.

While the visuals communicate the science, we paid equal attention to how the information is delivered. A restrained color palette and calm narration help create a sense of confidence and clarity, making the technology feel approachable rather than overwhelming.

We wanted to create a video that translates complex research into a story that researchers, partners, and stakeholders can quickly understand and connect with.

7) Insurance – Allianz

Creative Insurance Animated Video Ad for Car Insurance

Not every explainer video needs a voice-over. We created this one for Allianz without dialogue or monologue, relying entirely on visual storytelling to communicate the message.

Instead of having a narrator guide the audience from point A to point B, we designed a sequence of animated scenes that naturally flow into one another, allowing viewers to understand the story through actions, expressions, transitions, and carefully crafted visual metaphors.

This approach can be surprisingly challenging, especially in the insurance industry. Insurance is built on trust, security, and reliability. To achieve this, we focused heavily on visual clarity and emotional storytelling.

Rather than overwhelming viewers with technical details, we translated abstract insurance concepts into relatable everyday situations.

8) e-Learning – Elevator9

Animated Video for an e-Learning Platform - Elevator9

Learning is most effective when it feels engaging rather than instructional. For Elevator9, we leaned into a cartoon animation style because it allowed us to turn educational content into an experience that feels approachable, relatable, and enjoyable to watch.

The characters play an important role in that experience. Reflecting the challenges, goals, and situations faced by the target audience helps viewers see themselves in the story and better connect with the message.

Combined with expressive animation and a lighthearted tone, the video transforms a learning solution into something that feels human, memorable, and easy to connect with.

9) Real Estate – KeyOpp

Real Estate Explainer Video for KeyOpp | Cartoon Animation

Real estate decisions are often driven by trust and clarity, so we wanted the visual style for KeyOpp to feel clean, confident, and easy to navigate.

We deliberately worked with a limited color palette and simple line-based illustrations, creating a distinctive look that keeps the focus on the story rather than overwhelming viewers with unnecessary details.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of this project was designing the transitions. Instead of treating each scene as a separate moment, we connected them through a continuous visual journey that mirrors the customer experience.

Paired with carefully crafted sound design, the result is a smooth and engaging narrative that helps viewers understand the value of the platform while making the experience feel effortless and intuitive.

10) Artificial Intelligence – Nostra

Motion with Character Explainer video for Nostra

Artificial Intelligence is a complex topic that many people still find difficult to retain. This video we crafted for Nostra shows that motion graphics combined with minimalist background settings can break down all those techy explanations and encourage the viewer to pick up the information smoothly.

For this video, we use a minimalistic and clean style to help viewers focus, engage viewers, and avoid distracting them with too many visuals. After all, the aim here is to make sure that every target audience (no matter how skilled they are in content marketing) can understand how Nostra benefits them in some ways and make their lives easier.

Since we rely on cleanliness and simplicity, we know we have to come up with an impactful yet easy-to-digest script. Also, we use a clear voice-over with a slightly slower pace to make sure that viewers can keep up with crucial information in the video.

11) Internet of Things (IoT) – Mender

Mender Robust Delta Update Explainer Video | Motion Graphic Animation

As a company that offers intangible tech products, Mender understands that they have to create a snackable message so they don’t overwhelm their potential customers.

Using these motion graphic animated explainer videos, the company relies on straightforward explanations and only includes information that their audiences need to understand.

Instead of spending the whole 100 seconds breaking down their features, Mender shows how their software can improve customers’ lives. They also provide a succinct explanation of their packages, helping viewers understand which plan best suits their needs.

Through the video, viewers can understand what Mender offers, their unique selling points, and even some packages or plans they offer without having to visit their website and explore all the information in the first place.

Also, all those motion graphics animations play such a significant role in holding customers’ attention as they create transitions that are interesting to watch.

12) Non-Profit Organization – HearThePeople

Non-Profit Video Campaign for HearThePeople

For non-profit organizations, building an emotional connection is just as important as communicating the mission itself. When creating this video for HearThePeople, we chose a colorful character-driven animation style to make the cause feel more personal, relatable, and accessible to a broad audience.

The animated characters and energetic motion graphics allowed us to transform important information into a compelling story that viewers could easily follow and connect with.

Balancing clear messaging with engaging visuals helped non-profits like HearThePeople explain their impact, inspire support, and encourage viewers to become part of the cause rather than simply observe it.

13) Construction & Infrastructure – Colorado Concrete Leveling

3D Construction Service Animation for Colorado Concrete Leveling

In the construction industry, trust comes from showing how a solution works, not just talking about it. Concrete leveling is a highly visual service, so we chose a fully 3D animated approach to clearly demonstrate what happens beneath the surface. Something that would be difficult and expensive to capture with live-action footage.

By animating the cause of concrete settlement and the leveling process itself, we were able to simplify a technical service into an easy-to-understand story.

The visuals walk viewers through the problem and solution step-by-step, helping property owners quickly understand the value of repairing existing concrete instead of replacing it.

14) Food & Beverages – Satoria Agro

Live Action Videographics for Satoria Agro

Food and beverage brands thrive on authenticity. So live-action footage is the natural choice for this project. We wanted viewers to see the real people, facilities, and production processes behind Satoria Agro, creating a stronger connection with the brand and reinforcing the quality of its products and operations.

To support the story without distracting from it, we incorporated motion graphics to highlight key information and add visual structure throughout the video. This combination allowed us to maintain the credibility of real-world footage while presenting complex information in a clear and engaging way.

15) Consumer Goods – NutriChew

Pet Food Animated Commercial Video for NutriChew

Consumer goods videos often have only a few seconds to capture attention. That’s how we knew NutriChew needed an approach that felt energetic, approachable, and memorable. We paired playful doodle-style animation with a lively voiceover to create a fun viewing experience that reflects the brand’s personality and keeps audiences engaged from start to finish.

At the same time, we wanted the product itself to remain the hero of the story. That’s why we used realistic product visuals alongside the illustrations, ensuring viewers could clearly see what NutriChew offers while benefiting from the added charm and storytelling power of animation.

How to Choose the Right Explainer Video for Your Industry?

The examples above demonstrate that successful explainer videos are not defined by a particular animation style or production technique. What works for a healthcare company may not work for a consumer brand, and what resonates with enterprise software buyers may fail to connect with homeowners looking for a construction service.

Before deciding on a visual style, script format, or animation technique, consider the following questions.

How Complex Is Your Product or Service?

Some industries deal with concepts that are difficult to explain quickly. Healthcare, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, blockchain, and IoT companies often need to simplify technical information without losing accuracy.

In these cases, motion graphics, 2D animation, and visual metaphors can help transform complex ideas into content that is easy to understand.

On the other hand, industries such as food and beverage, consumer goods, and real estate may benefit more from showcasing products, experiences, or outcomes that audiences can immediately relate to.

What Does Your Audience Need to Feel?

Not every explainer video exists to educate. Sometimes the goal is to build trust, create excitement, inspire action, or establish credibility.

For example:

  • Insurance and financial services often need to reinforce trust and reliability.
  • Non-profit organizations need to create emotional connection and inspire support.
  • Consumer brands frequently focus on memorability and engagement.
  • Educational platforms aim to make learning feel approachable and accessible.

Understanding the emotion behind the message often influences the creative direction more than the message itself.

Would Your Message Benefit From Visual Demonstration?

Some services are easier to understand when viewers can see them in action.

Construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, and software products often benefit from visual demonstrations that show how a process works step by step. In these situations, 3D animation, product visualization, or screencast-style videos can communicate value far more effectively than words alone.

How Important Is Brand Personality?

An explainer video should not only explain what you do. It should feel like your brand.

A playful e-learning platform may use character animation and humor, while a scientific healthcare company may prefer a more polished and authoritative presentation. The visual style, voice-over, pacing, and storytelling should all reinforce how you want your audience to perceive your brand.

What Action Should Viewers Take Next?

Every explainer video should move viewers toward a specific outcome. Whether the goal is generating awareness, encouraging sign-ups, explaining a new technology, or driving sales, the structure of the video should support that objective from the very beginning.

The most effective explainer videos aren’t built around a trend or animation style. They’re built around the audience, the industry, and the business goal they are designed to support.

Mini FAQs About Explainer Video Examples in Different Businesses and Industries

How much does an explainer video typically cost?
The video cost depends on factors such as video length, animation style, script complexity, voice-over requirements, and production timeline. Custom projects can vary significantly depending on the scope and creative direction.

How long does it take to produce an explainer video?
Most explainer videos take anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months to complete. The timeline is influenced by the review process, revisions, and the complexity of the animation.

Can an explainer video be used for multiple marketing channels?
Absolutely. A single explainer video can often be adapted for websites, landing pages, social media, email campaigns, presentations, trade shows, and paid advertising.

Should I include a call-to-action in my explainer video?
In most cases, yes. Whether it’s encouraging viewers to book a demo, visit a website, sign up, or get in touch, a clear next step helps turn viewer interest into action.

How often should an explainer video be updated?
It depends on how often your product, service, branding, or messaging changes. If the information is outdated or no longer reflects your business accurately, it may be time for an update or refresh.
