Great Hair
If there was one thing I could make sure my kids got from my DNA, it would be my thick hair (and metabolism, but that is to be seen as they get older!). Izzy got a portion of it, but it was Deacon who got the brunt of it. He has had 6-7 haircuts so far in his lifetime and it is thick and coarse like mine. This is a good thing if you have ever met the Brinkerhoff side of our family. He has a chance to not be bald by the time he is 18. Hooray!! This is his latest haircut and probably my favorite!

The Festival of Colors
This is something I've been wanting to do since I saw my friend's post on this last year. We will be going back every year now because it was so much fun!
This is us before the throwing of colors. We were the first group to throw that day. We decided to take our colors (we had 12 bags) and throw them on ourselves. And we thought we were a mess for these pictures.

Here is a little brotherly in-law love

We had an hour before the throwing of the colors. Izzy and Elliot (and a couple of my sister's friends) would wait for people who were "clean" and sneak up by them and throw colors on them. It was actually a lot of fun and passed the time. Izzy thought it was hilarious. These next pictures are the actual throwing to welcome in spring.

This is us after the throwing.

This is my sister Kasey's mishap. Someone came by and threw a bunch of powder in her face and it got in her eye. Thankfully her friend came with eyedrops.

Elliot and Spud in the moment while singing Hare Krishna Hare Krishna (which was in every song they played). It was rather catchy!

It had snowed the night before which created a nice mud slide. Elliot and Izzy enjoyed sliding down it a few times. They were probably the only people to slide on it and stay on their feet.

After a couple of showerings and a few washings in the washing machine, everything came out. We did see a few people at church the next day with color in their hair that hadn't come out. We would highly recommend this to anyone for next year.

Happy Halloween
I know you are all thinking...who is the hunk with the hair in the last picture? I know you'll be shocked to find out it's my husband. I'm glad he doesn't have that kind of hair :) And Izzy could rival Sandy any day of the week. If you catch her on a good day, she can even sing the I've got chills/cause I need a man song for you.

Deacon is 1!!!
As always where does the time go??? Deacon turned one on the 29th. Everyone kept telling me how much fun it will be to have a Halloween baby, but I didn't really pay attention until I planned the dinner with my family. I now love Halloween! The one picture I forgot to take was the main course. We had "bloody rats" which were meatloaf shaped rats cooked in spaghetti sauce and they had melted cheese in the middle. We also had pumpkin soup which turned out really good.

the green goo punch

carved out oranges with fruit cocktail inside of them

bone rolls

goblin cream cheese dip

bat cupcakes

Deacon was actually not as messy of a cupcake eater that Izzy was. He pretty much kept sticking his fingers in the frosting and licking them. Happy Birthday Deacon!

We love Mizzou
We had SO much fun in Missouri! If it wasn't working for my corporate offices, I think we would move there (at least to St. Louis). There was lots of travel. We had rented a car with only 160 miles on it and when we turned it in, it was at roughly 1400 miles. After arriving at my brother and sister in law's house we headed to Independence the following day.

This is the original key to Liberty Jail. The reorganized church, Church of Christ, has the original door.

Here is the remodel of the Liberty Jail at the Liberty visitor's center

The temple of the Church of Christ which is on the land where we will eventually gather and have a temple. We did a tour through this temple. Very pretty and different. They did have the original paintings of Emma and Joseph that we all know of when we see their pictures portrayed.

Izzy and Deacon being pioneer children at the Independence visitor's center
The day after Independence, we traveled to Nauvoo....about a 4.5 hour drive from where T.J. and Amelia live.

This was one of the "areas" we could visit in Nauvoo. Izzy was needing some kid time, so we let her play all the games that pioneer kids played. The only downside was it was raining and cold while doing this.

The Nauvoo Temple, which I think rivals the Palmyra temple (since I've been to very few out of state temples :) ). We were able to do a session and then went back the next morning to take pictures in front of the temple.

These pictures were of Carthage Jail. A very spiritual experience even though Elliot had to hangout with a very loud Deacon. The window pictured is the one Joseph fell out of and the door is the original door with two bullet holes still in it.
After Carthage, we drove onto St. Louis. This is a really cool city and we only saw two days worth!

This event was the reason for the Missouri trip other than seeing T.J. and Amelia of course! Thanks T.J. and Amelia for living in a state with two pro football teams. Too bad that Elliot's team lost to a team who hadn't won in like 28 games!!

This was a free children's museum that was about triple the size of Clark Planetarium. Very interactive and I was actually sad to leave early to get to the game. Izzy really enjoyed this part.

Aren't Deacon and Isaac so cute?!

Here is the famous St. Louis arch. The ride to the top was a little claustrophobic and scary, but worth the view. You could see the city on the one side and the Mississippi river on the other side. We watched a movie on how the arch was built which was well worth it. And the arch had a really neat museum inside it as well. We were about 5 minutes walking distance from our hotel to the arch.

This was our last day and we headed back out to Kansas City to see a Royals game. They stink, but they won that night!

Izzy's best friends: Peter and new comer Buddy

Izzy training to be an airline pilot. Southwest was so nice!
Thanks, T.J. and Amelia for a fantastic time. You guys were great hosts and tour guides!
