Daniel turned 5 this year. It's crazy. On his actual birthday, we went to the Ducks playoff game. He told us that the Ducks were going to win for him because it was his birthday. And sure enough they did. Although he's starting to expect a bit much on his birthday. Last year all he wanted was to go to McDonalds, this year it's a Ducks game, and he already told us he wants to go to Disneyland.
On Saturday the 11th, we had a Jake and the Neverland Pirates Party. Daniel is a little bit obsessed with them so he loved it. I told myself that I wasn't going to go overboard, no pun intended. And then I started working on it with my mom and she was like oh I can work on x, y, z and so I was like well then that frees me up to do 10 other things. Bad idea. This poster was courtesy of my TA. Hey, she was assisting the teacher.
The front entrance. I totally spelled tattoo wrong so I just got a sharpie and added the other t.
When they first walked in, they got their pirate hat, sash, eye patch, sword, and map telling them what we would be doing during the party. Afterwards they went to Shannon and got an airbrushed tattoo. I didn't manage to get any pictures of that though.
The maps were totally jacked from Disney Junior but I did dye the paper with coffee so it looked brown and wrinkled.
Brent constructed this mast for our "boat" and my mom hung the fabric. It turned out pretty cool.
This was by far the favorite activity. Who would have thought a plastic pool, some crates, and piece of wood would entertain 5 year olds for 20 minutes? Seriously.

What a cute little pirate Logan!
Then we played pin the tail on tic tock croc. Poor Daniel, we spun him around too much so we're lucky he even got it on the paper.
And Clayton was totally trying to peek out from the bottom. We made him start over and fixed the blindfold so we got an authentic try.
After that it was time to dig for buried treasure. Silly plastic toys buried in playground sand with a shovel. Again, a serious hit.
Then it was time for food. We had jello, "sand"wiches, fruit on a hook, and pirate punch.
Then it was time for cake. Seriously ghetto. I've got to start finding someone to make them for me. FAB made some cupcakes to supplement the cake that turned out way cuter.
Yep, that's my boy.
Attractive.
This piñata was built super strong. We were using a metal bat, no blindfolds, and eventually an 11 year old and we still couldn't break it open. We got creative at the end to get the candy out.
Present time! Daniel made out like a bandit with cloths, board games, all things Jake, a Broncos hat (I swear his asked Matt for it), and Wii games, among other things.
Hanging out after the party
Daniel was a little upset that I covered up the temple to put up a pirate map for decoration. I probably should have been too.
FAB's cupcakes
I'm still in shock that Daniel is really this old, going into Kindergarten and everything. I told him he's not allowed to have any more birthdays and he's not really on board with it. Either way, I'm not going crazy with a party like I did this year. Although, I've said that before. I guess until next time...
