I know, it's about frickin time! Life seems to be much harder taking care of a 4 year year old, a newborn, and not living with 3 women who were clamoring to do things for you. But he's here! Logan Matthew Brinkerhoff was born on Friday, August 10, 2012 (8/10/12 for those of you number people) at 3:21 pm. That technically made him 39 weeks but my doctor was going out of town and he was already measuring 41 weeks. So we went into the hospital at 1 in the morning Friday morning and they started me on some drugs to get the party started. Things progressed rather uneventfully and my doctor broke my water at 6:20 am but then they didn't give me anything more to move along the progress until lunch time so things slowed down. I got to sleep though, so that was good. It was a super easy delivery, a quick 2 pushes and he was here. He was 8 pounds 12 ounces and 21 inches long. And had TONS of dark hair! When we first saw and heard him, it was a very emotional moment for us. We had been waiting a really long time for that moment and there were times that it seemed we wouldn't get there again so words cannot describe how happy we were.
Daniel really is the most amazing brother ever. He talks to Logan and gives him kisses, tells him he loves him, and plays with him. And I love the pictures we have of them together.
A huge shout out to Lou Anne for making it down. It was a last minute thing and she spent the last 3 days of her summer vacation before going back to work with us, taking care of Daniel, and being there for Logan's birth. I was really sad that I thought she wouldn't be able to be there and she pulled a rabbit out of a hat and made it happen.
My all time favorite picture right now! Daniel is just loving being a big brother.
I love his little "sleep smiles." Logan will even giggle in his sleep. It cracks me up and I can't wait until he does it on purpose when he's awake.
We brought Daniel's baby book with us to the hospital to see if they looked alike and this picture totally shows how much they look alike.
Right after a bath, Logan's hair gets all soft and feathery. It looks all fluffy. All I can think when I see it is Despicable Me when the little girl says "IT'S SO FLUFFY I'M GOING TO DIE!"
I'm sure there will be many more pictures to come. Maybe not as soon as you'd like but we are taking a lot! Welcome to our family baby Logan!
