VoxVR In October 2017 we finally released our VR Voxel Editor VoxVR that we had been working on for more than a year! 😀 We received a lot of feedback from you and improved it even further. Recently we published our first big update that added new functionality such as layers or a copy and paste tool.

Hi!
And again, it’s time for a new devloper update – lots of things have changed, we are very close to release, and we even have a new product announcement!
VoxVR Viewer VoxVR Viewer will release together with VoxVR as a separate application. VoxVR viewer allows you to view voxel models you have made with voxel-software like Magica Voxel, Qubicle or VoxVR in Virtual Reality. It’s basically a lite version of VoxVR, which just doesn’t allow placing Voxels.

What happend in the last couple of months with VoxVR and your game assets? – That’s what these “update” blogs are for. Keeping you up-to-date about what we are currently doing. This is the second post of this category, we published the first one in November. You can read it over here.
VoxVR VoxVR changed quite a lot, but the most important change is probably that our software now officially supports the Oculus Rift + Touch!

Hello!
In the first few lines of the last devblog, I explained that we won’t be able to publish a new devblog every month, but we will publish one every three months.
Well… I’m sorry.
We are still actively developing VoxVR besides all the other things we are doing (like studying and creating assets).
Oculus Rift Support Before I go into the changes we’ve made since the last update, I want to announce that VoxVR now officially supports the Oculus Rift headset + Touch controllers.

Advanced Low Poly Foliage

Hey!
I just wanted to let you know about something we are currently working on that was very exciting and fun for us. I am currently creating another low poly pack containing residential buildings. To decorate those i needed some sort of foliage, which looks very complex to help with the details on eye-level for a possible first-person character, but don’t slow down render times to much.
So I went through the process of creating really Low Poly meshes that I baked simple leaves (cubes with some scaled loopcuts) onto.

In these “updates” we are going to inform you about what changed in the last couple of months. To get notified as soon as a blog post like this goes live, subscribe to our newsletter.
The most important thing to us which changed till the last update / blog entry is that the we passed Steam Greenlight with VoxVR.

Hey!
We posted the last dev-blog in August. At first we wanted to post one every month, but we simply do not have time for that. So I guess a post every three months is sufficient.
Before I list the changes in VoxVR itself, a few other things:
The most important news is, that we now have a Steam page. That doesn’t mean you are already able to buy VoxVR, but you can follow and wishlist it.

Welcome back!
Since the last devblog we added Collada (.dae) as an export format to expand out compatibility. You can now also load reference images, directly in VoxVR, which helps artists to use their inspiration while creating in VR. Reference images can be loaded while VoxVR is running: Just throw your images into the VoxVR ‘images’-folder. The next big task is the creation of a better UI, that gives the user more freedom, as well as easily presenting all the tools, that we want to implement.

Hi!
We want to give you a first short overview of what we already have implemented and what we are working on right now. First of all we already passed Steam Greenlight! So you will be able to access VoxVR more easily and maybe even share your creations through the Steam workshop. Who knows what will happen?
Of course placing and removing single blocks is already working very well, but to support you with placing blocks and brushes more precisely we also implemented a nice preview that snaps to the blocks you would create when hitting the place-button.

Announcement: VoxVR – The VR Voxel Editor

VoxVR is an application which allows you to create awesome voxel art in a fun and easy way in VR. It’s way easier to create the models you imagine in VoxVR than using other voxel editors, because you can place voxels right in the air, exactly where you want them to be, without complicated mouse movements.
Some examples, built in Virtual Reality using VoxVR.
Of course VoxVR supports export and import to the most common voxel editors like Magica Voxel and Qubicle.

Hello World!
More than one year ago, we decided to publish our first plugin to the Unity3D Asset Store called “Fast Grid”. At this time our “developer team” only consisted of Rob and Me. We create games before together, but we always published them using my (Gamejolt) account. But for the Asset Store we needed a publisher name. We searched a long time for a good name with no success. One night, as we programmed some vector-heavy math formula to calculate 3-dimensional movement in space – and nothing worked – , Rob came up with the name “Broken Vector” which sounded amazing.

Did you know our Low Poly assets offer you a simple system that allows you to adjust the colors easily to your games look’n’feel? Here is how it works: Our models use UV maps that map the individual faces/vertices to pixels on a “Palette-Texture / Color Scheme”. So, if you want to, you can either use the pre-made palettes that were shipped with the asset or even create your own ones to fit your game.
