Louis Tomlinson has announced that he has left Simon Cowell's record label.

The exit is the end of 10 years at Syco for Louis, who signed with the label as part of One Direction following their X Factor success.

Once the band went on hiatus to focus on their solo projects in 2015, Louis was the only member to sign back with Syco as a solo artist, while his former bandmates explored other labels.

He also joined Simon – as well as Robbie Williams and Ayda Field – on the X Factor judging panel in 2018, where his act Dalton Harris won the competition.

Louis announced the news of his exit on Twitter, revealing plans to get back in the studio and write the follow-up album to his debut album Walls, released earlier this year.

He tweeted: "Hope everyone is doing ok! Just wanted to let you know that Syco Music and I have agreed to part ways.

"I'm really excited for the future and to be back in the studio writing the next album. Can't wait to finally see you all on tour!! Stay safe and see you soon, Louis x."

There have also been rumours flying about a One Direction reunion that may be coming up at some point soon, with confirmation that the band have "chatted" about getting back together.

With 2020 being their 10-year anniversary, fans are holding out hope for an announcement.

Liam Payne recently revealed he wants to do something for their big anniversary, and seemed very excited about getting back on stage with his 1D pals.

"Obviously, we know it's a very big anniversary and we definitely want to do something," Liam shared.

"But, you know, it still seems very hopeful in that department. I'm starting to think it's gonna happen at some point. So it's exciting."
