JordanMy name is Jordan. I also go by Jordi, or just Jord. My dad calls me Bug.

I am 10 years old. When I was born I suffered from an anoxic brain injury that has made my life somewhat difficult. I communicate through grunts and simple gestures.  My brain injury has left me unable to speak, and profoundly mentally retarded. If you don’t like that label you can think of me as developmentally delayed.

My dad is creating this blog for me so that I can introduce myself to people. I hope it will contain occasional stories about what goes on in my life.

Thank you for stopping by.

Thank you so much for posting this web log about Bug. My own daughter is 2 years old. She had HIE at birth, has PVL and CP now as well as seizures, failure to thrive, and reflux. I don’t know what the future holds for her. I know that the brain injury is non-progressive but the seizures could cause damage. They are thankfully well controlled right now.

I can’t tell you how much it means that you provide people with this insight into your daughter’s life. I know how difficult it must be to share some of this. For me, this blog is a snapshot of what my life might be 8-12 years from now. Of course it may be totally different, too. But still, seeing it makes it not as scary– Jordan is happy and beautiful and some of her mannerisms and even her face I can see my daughter in her.

    I just… thank you.
