Apparently it is the 75th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz...who knew? Kansas City has had some cute events going on for kids to celebrate, so this past Saturday we decided to go check it out and it was adorable! Crown Center had created a little exhibit built especially for small kids to take their own journey down the yellow brick road.
Addison then got to meet Dorothy, Tin Man, Lion, & Scarecrow...too bad Glinda wasn't there - Addison's favorite...of course, because of the "sparkly dress". (On a side note, I'm not quite sure what the Scarecrow's gesture is all about...it's interesting.)
After our trip through the Emerald City we went to Fritz's Railroad Restaurant for lunch. It's a pretty awesome place where you order your lunch by phone and then your food is delivered by an overhead train!

Visiting New York! :-)
After being in Kansas for only 4 short weeks, we were able to take a trip back to Long Island! Our close friend is getting married in April and her bachelorette party was March 1, so all 4 of us decided to head back to visit for a bit! We had lots of fun while we were in New York...including Addison & Avery's first trip the the Barnum a Bailey Circus! Addison LOVED the elephants!
Overall, the girls did well on the plane ride to and from New York...thank goodness for our portable DVD player (thank you, Nana!) and cheerios! However, when we landed we saw this sign at the airport and knew immediately we weren't in NY anymore!

Valentine's Day
I have noticed that as Addison grows older, the holidays are becoming more and more fun! She was really looking forward to Valentine's Day and the party they were going to have at her new school. We spent some time together preparing Valentines for all her new friends. We incorporated her Frozen obsession and they came out pretty cute!

Some sisterly love...or is that fear in Avery's eyes? I often find myself wondering what she is thinking. :-)

We're Here!
So this is it...we have made it to KANSAS! Some of you may have known about this for quite awhile, 7-8 months to be exact! We were able to postpone our move for a bit until Avery was a little older. In case you aren't sure what's going on, Seth was offered a promotion at work, Regional Vice President, that required us to temporarily relocate to the Midwest (Overland Park, KS). I was able to take a Childcare Leave from teaching and put my job on hold for now.
So here we are! We moved in on Monday, February 4th and are getting adjusted to the area. I have made it a point to get Addison involved with activities as quickly as possible! She started at preschool last week. It's only Monday & Wednesday from 9:00-11:30, but it's exactly what she needs & wants so badly...time to be with kids! We also joined a group with scheduled play dates in the area and she starts swimming lessons February 27th!
I know it's been a long, long while since I last posted...but now that we are far from all our friends & family :-( I thought it might be a nice way for everyone to see what we are up to out here in the Mid West! My goal is to post once a week & I invite you to hold me to it! For now take a look at some of our pictures from the first week here!
