Gingerbread houses

We got together with Trent's parents, and Cassie and Nate this week to have dinner and make gingerbread houses. We hosted the dinner and Joni brought the gingerbread houses and the stuff to make them. It was really nice because our gingerbread was pre-made(she bought the kits). It was fun to hang out, and I must say the dinner was delicious. I made homemade chili, cornbread, and salad. For dessert, apple cobbler and ice cream! We mostly took pictures to send to Toby on his mission, but I thought I would share.

Lights!

When the holidays come, one of my favorite things to do is look at all of the Christmas lights. This year we have spent many nights just driving around with Christmas music on, talking and looking at the lights. I am sometimes critical of peoples' lights, and yard decorations, which makes it more fun! Every year we go to Temple Square with the Horrocks', this year was a little different because they all have babies now! It was such nice weather the night we went, you barely needed a coat! It was really fun!

Afterward we went home and had treats and hot chocolate, yum!

Thanksgiving 2010

We had an enjoyable Thanksgiving this year. We spent the day at my uncle's house. It is always nice to see family, and to have a 4 day weekend! These are a few pictures, it has been a really long time since we've had the entire family together, so we took the opportunity to get some snapshots.

My Latest Project

So for my birthday back in September, Trent got me some digital scrapbooking software that I LOVE. I have used it for of course scrapbooking, church handouts, and this is the latest project that I undertook. I have never had a real great way to organize my recipes, and I was browsing around checking out blogs for ideas and came across this idea.

My old system was a drawer in the kitchen full of internet prints of various recipes, I think this system is much, much cuter. It is super easy too! So, what I do is when I try a new recipe and like it, I make a card and print them for 17 cents at Costco. Then, I organize them all in a box with cutesy little dividers. Each week, I can look through my recipes, pick the ones I am going to make, then make my grocery list. It is awesome, and I love it because it is so cute! I can make about 5 recipe cards in 1 hour, depending on how creative I feel, so getting all 40 of my recipes done was a task, but now I am caught up and can just do them as needed! Love it! Trent did great with this gift!

I love being organized!

HaWaIi!!!!

Ok, so since we were married our big dream vacation has been Hawaii. We always told ourselves we would go after we were both graduated from college. We never really knew when it would work out, but everything fell into place and we went! We spent 4 nights on the island of Oahu. We visited all of the amazing sights there...Pearl Harbor, the North Shore, hiked Diamond Head, hung out on Waikiki beach, snorkeled at Hanauma Bay, and loved it all! Then we flew to Maui for 4 nights before dreadfully coming home! In Maui we snorkeled, hung out in Lahaina, drove the dreaded Hana Highway, and just enjoyed being beach bums! I loved Hawaii, but anyone who know me knows that I'm happy with a warm beach anywhere. Hawaii was the best! It had perfect weather and it is such a beautiful tropical paradise, I didn't want to come home. Someday when we retire, maybe we'll just live in a hut on the beach in Hawaii...

Well, here are some highlights of the trip!

September 2010

I loved September this year! The weather was awesome, but I am afraid now it is all done. We didn't do too much. For Labor Day weekend we went to Trent's annual family reunion in Lava Hot Springs, and of course, we're lame and took zero pictures. It was fun to float the river though!
After that Trent was gone on a 10 day trip to Chile and Argentina for work. I know, cool for him, crappy for me! It was a long time!

He got home just in time for my birthday. It was Saturday the 18th and he had plans for us on Friday night and all day Saturday. So we started off Friday night, we went to Market Street Grill and to temple square to see the new 6 foot replica of the Salt Lake Temple. (It's pretty awesome btw, if you haven't gone to see it, you should). Saturday didn't reall go as planned. We were going to head up the canyon for breakfast at Ruth's, which has an awesome view. Then up to Park City. Our plans were completely ruined, because I did this....all day.

Ya, that's right. I had the worst food poisoning that I have ever experienced. Happy Birthday to me, eh?? I did however, gain wisdom on my 26th birthday....no more eating at Market Street...EVER.

August Adventures

In August we were very busy. Every weekend was something. The first weekend I had youth conference for 3 days. Then, my mom and I threw a bridal shower for my cousin at my house. The next weekend was my cousin's wedding. Then we went to Vegas to see Michael Buble. Here are some pics to sum it all up! First, Youth Conference. We did various things including Camp Williams courses, and this....which is a picture of us hiking up behind the Draper temple, it is a breathtaking view. Image Image Next, I hosted a bridal shower at my house for cousin Tiffany! We had so much fun. It was a family shower. We served fruit tart squares, mini cupcakes, and crackers and cheese. We played a few games(against my will, I hate shower games), and she opened presents. We made the theme of the shower "date night" so everyone had to bring a gift that the bride and groom could use/do on a date. People were very creative! I was impressed. Image Father of the bride, and my cousin Image Dancing Image Image Image This is my cousin's son...check out those big eyes! Image Image More dancing... this is me and all of the girl cousins on my mom's side Image Image And now, for the real fun... Michael Buble and all his sexiness! We missed him in SLC(Trent didn't think I'd want to go...what was he thinking?!!?) So he made it up to me and bought tickets for the show in Vegas. I loved it! We had great seats, Michael Buble is hilarious, and I would totally go again. We also ate at Serendipty for dinner, yum yum. Love frozen hot chocolate. Here are 2 videos, don't mind my horrible recording skills, I was just using my little camera, just listen to his voice, that's all that matters!

This is us before the concert started(I wore glasses to help hide my eye...)

While in Vegas we were able to visit Trent's cousin, we stayed with them. It was so nice to have them host us! They were great, thanks so much Kevin and Stephanie! We went boating at Lake Mead, and I got my first black eye out of the experience. Trent and I were out on the tube and we hit heads, he had a goose-egg on the back of his head, and I had this....
