Slacker....Crafter

So, I have been devoting my time to other things besides blogging, i.e. crafting/Christmas craziness.

In the last month I made:
   - 5 patchwork activity bags for my nieces and nephews
   - 1  embroidered pillowcase for Aunt Catherine.
   - 2 blankets for Anna @ work.
   - 1 Baby quilt
   - and many many messes!!!

Of all these projects I didn't take a single picture.  Great job Catherine.  Anna, however, sent me a photo of one of the blankets I made for her sons, see below.  I will work on getting more pictures for the future.  I do enjoy documenting my adventures and attempts at craftiness.

I am on a roll today.  I cann't get this lovely picture to rotate so here is Anna's son sideways :)
My next big adventure is to get my dresser cleaned out and organized, work out at the gym/swim in the pool, keep my clothes fitting/maybe attempt a bathing suit come summer, stay sane, and keep up my healthy cooking for the New Year.

Festive Fall Splendor

Sunday was a rather random day for me.  I went to church, we had the Primary Program, I taught Primary, and then came home. The great fun for the day however came much later as our artistic talents were displayed in a little family pumpkin carving.

Emma carved a Spider

Eli carved a ghost, Pac Man, Pac Man Ghost, and more Ghosts

Amy carved the traditional Jack-o-Lantern.

Maylee drew Flowers on hers with Granna's help.

Image
I carved a witch, or "twitch" as Emma used to call them when she was little.

It was so much fun.  The pumpkins were from Rhett, Bruce's best friends, garden.

Also, you will all be so proud of my crafting abilities.  I made pillowcases for the neices and nephews.  I forgot to take pictures of some of them but here are a couple that I did take pictures of.

Fall Picnic

Image
Autumn is upon us and I have continued to slack...mainly because I am at work quite a bit.  Here I am with a few of my cohorts from work, Daniel, Anna, Blakelee, Me, and Tiffany.  We had our Fall Picinic at work today.  The weather is nice and I loved sitting out in the sun.  However, I fully admit that if I had a laptop and blue tooth for my phone I would be outside pretending to work for this afternoon.

It is amazing how the air changes with the seasons.  I do love the crisp clean feel of the fall air.  However, I am trunky for Jacob Lake and my Kaibab Plateau.  Maybe I could run away for a weekend and see the Grand Canyon before the snow really sets in.

Sheep in the Wolf's Clothing

I know I wrote that backwards but I promise I am the innocent one.  Randomly enough the BYU vs UTAH game is this weekend.  I work for the one school but went to school for a bit at the other.  I cannot complain but I feel like I cannot ally myself with either.  Sooooo....I bleed PURPLE.  Go WEBER!

Image
This graphic was on the front cover of the Daily Utah Chronicle.  I love it.  Isn't it great how the rivalry continues on.  I wonder if the men in Fruit Heights are going to wear their team ties this week or if that was supposed to have been last week at church.

Image
Nothing too new happening around the area but I have been busy working, gardening, learning about trucks/sled pulls, rodeo watching, and doing crafts every now and again.  Here is a picture of Bruce & I at a truck pull in Tremonton a while back.

Starting on my Christmas projects as we speak.  I will keep more up to date as the month continues to roll along.

July 4th, 2011

So, I have started to increase my activity level a little at a time.  Yes it may seem kind of strange to be super excited about my little accomplishments but for the girl who is afraid of hurting herself this is a big deal.

On the morning of the 4th of July, Davey, Bruce and I set out on a hike in Fruit Heights, up Bear Canyon.  The first bit of the hike is quite steep and I could feel it in my achilles tendons.  After that it wasn't too bad.  It was beautiful and cool by the creek/stream (which looked like a river due to the high water levels). We didn't push ourselves too hard but had a good time getting away for a bit and enjoying nature.

I am illustrating my adventure with a few pictures.  Forgive the not so flattering ones, please.

Crafty Family

It has already been established that Mom is very crafty.  Bruce and I have been busy working to keep up with her.

First it started with Father's Day cards.  This year I now have 6 people to make cards for on this special day.  As you can see I made a few extra as well.  In the process I made a mess of the family room.  Thank you to Bruce for putting up with this.

Image
I found this pattern on the Amy Butler web page and thought I would use it to increase my creative genius :).

Next the creativity went so far as a new baby quilt.  This was great fun for me to make because I was actually doing it for someone else.  Lynn, a lovely woman I work for, is expecting a new grandbaby and wanted a quilt to give to her daughter in law.  I was happy to assist in this venture.

Here we have the pre finished product.
Image
Last night I look so very excited to have it finished. (yes the red eyes were left in on purpose to add emphasis to my sleepiness).

Bruce has been hard at work on his crafty side as well.  He has been constructing these drawers to go under Mom's closet's upstairs.  They are made of Lyptus, an expensive wood that makes lots of slivers.

So even after all of our efforts I don't think that we are close to keeping up with Mom on her crafty skills. She has finished almost all of her cross stitch projects that have been in the closet and next she will be moving on to the nutcrackers.

Never Ending Peeling Sunburn

Two Saturday's ago I spent all day working out in the garden.  Originally I was only planning on being out there for a few hours, but I didn't go inside until around 6 p.m.  So, yes my skin got a little nuked.  Mostly my shoulders and then on my lower back where my shirt had ridden up and my shorts had ridden down.  The problem now is that my arms are peeling, and peeling, and peeling and I feel like I am the leaving a DNA trail everywhere I am going.  Sure, we generally do sluff off skin, etc. through out the day, but this makes me feel like a reptile who cannot seem to loose the skin fast enough.

So, once again here is another summer with a cool farmers tan :).  It may be the only sun the way things are going around here.  Yesterday morning I woke up to find snow on our grass.  What a pain!  It is June and we still haven't hit 70 degrees for a week solid yet.  I guess it is a blessing in disguise because the snow hasn't had a chance to melt too fast and come off the mountain causing "great flooding."

Our basement has already soaked up a bit of water.  Yet another summer project to work on.  However, we cannot start on this until it warms up a bit.  So, patience and greater perserverance is necessary once again.

Procrastination Halted

Last night a huge thunderstorm came through and it was fun to sit and listen to the hail, rain, and thunder rolling off the mountain. However, it was about 2 a.m. when all of this was happening and I wasn't asleep. Major insomnia last night....not good.

So, I was productive to some extent and I finished binding a quilt that I started a while back.ImageImageImageImage

Almost One Month

Despite the dreary rain we are having I am working on my postitive outlook. Yesterday we had snow here at work and I was so sad about how anti-spring it was outside.

It is amazing how large events tend to roll together and make time move faster. For example, I have been married for almost one month, Bruce has a job here in town so I will actually see him on a regular basis, Davey may have a new job closer to us here in Utah which means more time with his family and having Amy around to be my pal, and Natalie is going back to school (in a couple months).

Change is a constant in life however it is not extremely easy for me to accept at times. Every Christmas gets a little less "traditional" and I miss sleeping over at Grandma's, having all the family at home, spending time eating carmel corn, watching all of our movies that we got as presents, and coloring in our new coloring books. I appreciate the new but my goal is to blend it with the old in a better fashion. Who knows how things will end up, but it is definitely interesting to be along for the ride.

Wedding Day

To start with, I wanted to take a moment to highlight the great people who helped to make our wedding extra special and a wonderful occasion.

1- Our family-- Mom's & Dad's, Natalie, Davey, Amy, Celeste, Jason, Brent, Brandon, Morgan, & Dillon. Our Grandparents on both sides. Cousins, Aunts & Uncles, Nieces & Nephews.Image

2-Our friends-- Yes Minna, I am putting you in this category though you truly belong in both. Jessica, Rhett, Kathrine, Heather, Shar, etc. I am sorry if I missed anyone.

----These are our cute nieces and nephews...Emma (7), Kaylee (6), Eli (5), Caleb (2), and Maylee ( 8 months).----

We invited 55 to the temple for the sealing and then there were 80 people at the dinner afterwards at Iron Gate Grill. Thank you once again for all of Imageyour love and support in all we have done and all we will venture forward to do. Our intention was to keep things small but our family means so much to us that the numbers continued to grow and grow as we realized we were trying to not miss anyone in our listing efforts.Image

So, as I promised I am posting a few pictures for your viewing pleasure. I am extremely grateful that all turned out well in the end. Bruce and I were ready for a nap and headed off on a 2 night honeymoon before he had to leave to go out of town for work.

ImageThe weather was nice for the wedding day, chilly but not raining like it has been for so much of April.

Now our life together is moving forward. I am working and Bruce is working, both jobs are blessings in disguise. More news will continue to follow.

It is official....

I wanted to let the world know that I am officially married. It seems rather surreal at the moment but I am sure I will get used to it given some time. Bruce and I were married last Saturday in Logan and everyone was so pleasant and kind. Pictures will be coming soon.
