Father and Sons

The boys and I spent a couple of days

and a night at the family cabin.

We all enjoyed playing in the woods and

on the big rocks below the cabin.

Thanks to the wood stove and our sleeping

bags, we stayed nice and warm.

The final analysis from the boys:

After the first day, Judah said: "I don't think Mom

and Audrey are having this much fun. This is what

fun is all about!"

We had a great time making memories!

Asher's 5th Birthday

Asher had an Angry Birds party this year.

Levi did a great job decorating the cake.

Asher spent lots of time admiring it before the party

and Judah said it was "brilliant."

One of the highlights of the party was listening to this little guy

read every single birthday card all by himself.

Asher received several new t-shirts. After he finished opening

gifts he said, "I think I need to try on clothes!"

Asher was full of lots of angry faces and silly poses.

But don't let these angry faces fool you,

behind that grimace is a super sweet kid.

Happy Birthday Asher D. We love you.

Saturday in Alma

We spent most of the day visiting the spinach

capital of the world, but we didn't even eat any spinach!

We took some time to visit our first married couple

friends. It has become more obvious to us how rare it is to

have a friendship where both the husbands and the wives

truly are friends.

In 2001, it was just the four of us - Sam, Becca, April, and Levi.

We have added six more to the team over eleven years!

Kings Day 2012

The kids were so excited to see what kind of cereal

they got for Kings Day. They asked to open those

gifts before we went out to eat.

'Dessert cereal'...a special treat reserved for this day.

Fact: The number one ingredient in Honey Smacks is sugar.

The boys got Hex Bugs.

Audrey got a 'doggie purse' that she's wanted

since November. "Thank you-n!"

Levi got lots of good stuff this year -

including a coupon for an evening of shopping

at an outdoor sportsman store without any of

us tagging along or pouting about him leaving!

April loves these liners. Don't worry, she did

get some gifts that were not quite as practical

as this one.

Our evening ended with a bedtime snack....then

the kids snuggled up in their new sleeping bags for

the night.
