Many firsts...

Clayton and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary on the 19th this month.  July 19th, 2010 was just another day that we spent together with our family of 4 now because we celebrated our marriage early and in style this year!  We shared some firsts this year as we celebrated!

Our first vacation alone since our honeymoon.
Clayton's first cruise.
My first time on Majesty of the Seas ship.
Our first cruise together.
Our first time to be away from both children for an extended time

Our first time to sleep on 2 twin beds pushed together in a tiny room.
The first time we had to share the bathroom only because we didn't have enough room to stand next to each other while we brushed our teeth.
My first time to actually stand outside my shower to shave because it was so small.
Our first time to have 2 beautiful pools and hot tubs and neither of us even got in.  Although, I did lay out by the pool while Clayton worked out at the gym.
Our first time to take Salsa dance classes.
Our first time to attend atleast 1, usually 2 shows a night.  We enjoyed musical shows, comedians, juggling, Love & Marriage game show, and The Quest game show (adults only...it got pretty WILD!).

Our first time to dress up 4 nights in a row for an elegant dinner date.
Our first time to be brave enough to ask complete strangers to take our picture so often.

My first time to go rock climbing.
Clayton's first time to go rock climbing on a ship.

The first time (in a long time) that someone came in twice a day to make our bed, put fresh towels out and leave us a "towel pet".

Our first time to visit Keywest, Florida, Nassau, Bahamas, Atlantis and CocoCay Island together.
Our first time to snorkel in a coral reef.

It was definitely not a first, be we were reminded each day of God's beauty around us!

We had a wonderful trip away and spending time just the 2 of us!  We missed Camille and Eli tremendously, but knew they were having a blast with their cousins in Austin!

If you didn't get enough pictures, there are more to come that are on my phone!  Be excited!

Happy Independence Day!

Image
Our 4th of July was a little different this year.  On the 4th, we were headed to Hillsboro to meet Bubbie and send the kids to Austin so we had a small celebration on the 3rd.

We met my Nana, Grandad and Brooke to see Toy Story 3 in 3D.  Camille enjoyed her seat in Nana's lap the entire movie while Eli did pretty well but thought the movie was a little too long to sit still.  Then we all headed to our house for some yummy BBQ and poppers!  I bought a pack of poppers at WM and BB and Camille enjoyed popping streamers all over the backyard!

We also had patriotic drinks.  I got this idea from Paige

We had a great evening, although I was sad to say goodbye to my cutie-pies the next morning for 6 days!  From the look of this picture, Camille is SUPER excited to be going to Austin for the week and Eli doesn't know what to expect (we get this look from him often).

Yesterday, Eli finally figured out how to go forward!  He is so proud of himself and building up speed!

4 Weeks Down

Four weeks down and I don't even know how many more to go!  I'm not sure the date I have to go back to school, but I do know that we are making the most of our summer this year!  This next school year it is back to full-time for me.  I am very sad my ideal job is no longer an option, but I am very thankful for many things!  I am thankful that I love my job, that the kids have a WONDERFUL lady that loves on them all day long, and I am thankful for my job hours, frequent days off, and my SUMMER!

It is rare that we stay in our PJs past 9am, which is not usual for my summers.  I have taken full advantage of our community storytimes at our local library, free movies at our nearby movie theater, our neighborhood (and friends') pool, splash pads and fun playdates with friends.  I haven't been great about taking pictures of all our fun activities, but here are some pictures of our summer.

We have currently swam in 9 pools so far this summer!  We have also enjoyed 2 splash pads.

Eli has enjoyed getting into his sister's toys.  Camille has also enjoyed having an extra stuffed brother!

Camille began identifying her letters and their sounds this past year, so I have decided to focus on a different letter each week.  Each week we start off by watching the book on Starfall.com that goes with the particular letter of the week.  We then think of words that begin with that letter and draw pictures with the word and put them around the house in their appropriate place.  We also practice writing the letter correctly.

Our first week was all about the letter C!  We enjoyed making C shaped cookies, practiced cutting, coloring and cooking.

Our second week was all about the letter P!  We enjoyed popcorn at the movie, ate Pop-Tarts (requested by Camille over pancakes), made homeade pepperoni pizza and painted pretty pictures!

Our third was the letter M!  In this picture Camille is enjoying a marshmellow and milk snack in our man-made tent.  (I know that one is a stretch.)
Image

Our fourth week has been all about the letter S.  We have eaten many different types of sandwiches, played with sidewalk chalk, and been a super big sister!

Eli is loving his summer!  He has gotten a little bit more attached to momma than normal, but I don't mind at all!  Although most of our activities are for Camille, he has gone right along and enjoyed most of them.  He's not too crazy about the movies so far!

Along with all our fun, we still make time for naps!  It is sometime tough for Eli because he still takes atleast 2 naps a day and all our fun messes with that sometimes.
Image
Camille still takes naps as well.  We have tried a few days without a nap, and it calls for a grouchy evening.  I love these pictures because it shows how much she enjoys reading her bible!  She almost NEVER goes to her bed, lays down and goes to sleep.  She almost always reads her bible, other books or plays with her babies.  She loves looking through her bible, telling us about the stories she knows and asking questions.  She marks her spot by turning over her bible to pick up where she left off.

And, our most recent activity this week was at Chuck E Cheese.  As soon as we drove up Camille immediately asked, "Mom, is Chuck E Cheese real or make believe?"  She is not a fan of characters in costumes and she immediately remembered her past experiences here.  She had a great time with her friends Maci and Madison.  They are definitely our summer buddies!  We get together most Monday and Wednesdays for different activities.  We all enjoyed some yummy pizza, many rides and games, some dancing on stage and visiting Chuck E Cheese.

This is not on our cheap list of activities, but it is one that Camille has been enjoying every week since November.  I had my camera with me this week so I caught a few action shots.
