Where to Sing?

Posted by Seedo at 4:43 PM 0 comments Image
Just a very brief entry on some of the Karaoke lounges in Singapore..These experiences were gathered from the multiple K-sessions since last year 2010.

Cash Studios:

  • My first visit started in year 2008 (introduction from Vin).
  • Located only at a couple of areas, like Somerset, Bedok...
  • Huge, or say, massive collection of Japanese songs.
  • Guess there's also a sizable collection of Malay songs, from the fact that there are many Malay customers.
  • You key 6 digits into the D.A.M machine and the MTVs you get to see is non-original (due to copyrights?).
  • An alternative machine in the room that allows you to pick Mandarin songs like that of K-box or Partyworld.
  • Room is best for 3 persons cos there's three free drinks.
  • On Sunday nights, you get to sing unlimitedly for the same rate (cos there's barely anyone left)

Partyworld:

  • Located almost everywhere.
  • It's known for its happy four hours, instead of the usual three hours of singing.
  • Very nice and spacious room, there's even rooms with OTO leg massage machines.
  • HUGE LCD TV screen for singing and even the ordering screen is a 32inch TV.
  • Song MVs are HD quality.
  • Very high class feel, and the song collection is moderately up-to-date.
  • Countdown timer on the TV screen, so do remember to pick a very long last song when you have 1min left.
  • Rather expensive.

K Box:

  • You can find them almost anywhere too.
  • Three hours, some also include buffet (lunch or dinner)
  • Rooms are super small and the TVs are still the huge rectangular boxes we use to have.
  • Songs MVs are machiam downloaded from Youtube.
  • Something new: Touch screen system to order songs (they even have handwriting-recognition!)
  • Free flow of snacks (they charge u $7 though) and 2 drinks for each person.
  • Song bank is not really updated.
  • Small collection of foreign songs.

There are other KTVs like Kster but that's like 10 years ago since I have been there so I'm not going to include it here.

Anyway, my ideal KTV is...
  • A place as good as Partyworld, so spacious, so classy, so new, with massage machines..
  • A touch screen song ordering system like K-box, but the TVs are as good as those in Partyworld..
  • A super huge and updated collection of foreign and mandarin songs like Cash Studios..
  • All songs are in their original HD format
  • Free flow of snacks and drinks..
  • And there's no time limit.. all for the price of $20nett.

Where to find such a good K-place?

Avril Lavigne's Concert @Singapore. The Thoughts.

Avril Lavigne's The Black Star Tour in Singapore Indoor Stadium on 9 May 2011, 8pm.
It's our FIRST Rock Concert together!

Was real excited as it had been a teenage dream of mine to attend her concert one day. From my JC years, have been listening to her music and was pretty impressed with songs like "Nobody's Home", "Complicated", "Innocence", "My Happy Ending" and many more.

When she got married in 2006, it seemed that she wasn't continuing on her work in music and I had guessed that she's not coming back too soon. After her divorce in 2009, she's back again with her forth album, "Goodbye Lullaby". (If you have not listened to this album, please do!! IMO, all songs are real great!!!)

So, one day while I was happily exploring Sistic website, I come across this advertisement of her Black Star Tour, and I was so convinced that I MUST GO! So, Vin and I got ourselves CAT 1 tickets...

The concert commenced on a pretty Monday late evening. I was very lucky to have a school holiday on that day so I didn't have to rush to the concert after work.

It's also very convenient to get to Indoor Stadium now that we have a "Stadium Station" from Circle Line.

Image
We reached there around 7:30pm.

The Indoor Stadium is only a mere 2 minutes walk from the station.

Singapore Indoor Stadium, at 7:30pm

7:50pm: We are pretty early, or say, punctual, so there's not many fans here yet.

There are many foreigners from Western countries and Indonesia at our category.
This is the best shot of the stage I could get with my Canon Ixus 130.

From PB2, Row 26. You can see pretty well if no one stands, but that's highly impossible.

Black star, black star, forever you will be.........

Black and green is a nice color combination for punk rock.
The concert began pretty late, around 830pm, as many of the fans were late. It ended pretty early at 10pm, so early that after taking cab from Bedok (it's too difficult to get cabs outside the stadium), I reached home safely by 11pm.

Still, it was a great concert. Avril Lavigne is really talented and she's so good at singing LIVE! You should catch how she sings all her explosive songs. She's really pretty, I can't stop staring at her... (perverto) And, she's good at playing the guitar and piano too. My ideal ROCK CHIC. :) Would love to catch her live performances again.

To Hong Kong Confirmed

Posted by Seedo at 1:00 AM 0 comments Image
"I want to go overseas!"

"I need to clear leave."

With that, Vin and I plan to travel again. This time, we are thinking of going to Hong Kong.

Seriously, if I really could, I would so, so, so much prefer to go to Japan. Yet, the thought of facing "radiation" and "naggings and rejections" from my family, I decided to postpone that thought, again.

Traveling to Japan is so much cheaper now. It's really a pity I couldn't go.

BUT I WILL DEFINITELY GO TO JAPAN SOON!! (...if I can...)

After we did some research, we head to Chinatown to "compare prices". Turns out, when you plan to travel on Free-and-Easy, travel agencies don't really offer the best prices.

The deals we could get online is much better.

So, tapping on the convenience of a netbook, mobile wireless adaptor and credit cards, we tried to book air tickets, hotels and Disneyland packages on our own.

We were looking for a quiet place with food to eat, so we come across this shop: "Freshness Burger" at Central. It's almost empty and it's serving burgers and other side dishes that remind me of MOS Burger.

Image
Quiet and cozy..

The food selection is unique and healthy-looking. We ordered Maccha (Green Tea) Latte, Tori Katsu Burger and Onion Rings which they quoted as freshly made from Hokkaido Farms. They are delicious!!

Image
Maccha Latte.. Not too sweet and it's nice!!

Image
Healthy variety of Burgers. Best of all, the real burgers just look as good as its pics!

Image
The lettuce are FRESH! They brush your nose when you tried to eat.

Image
No joke, the onion rings are as big as wristbands..
Thanks to this wonderful place, we have successfully booked and confirmed our trip! Looking forward to it!

Lesson learnt:
Travel agencies do not always offer the best deals.
Much research is needed to seek out the best deals from the Internet.
Freshness Burger is cheaper than MOS Burger.

Fickle Me Started Again!

Posted by Seedo at 6:02 PM 0 comments Image
New blog!

Oh man, why is it so difficult to maintain blogs? Have been trying out several blog providers, and now, I'm back to Blogger again. Okay, I shall stop being so fickle minded.

Image

LOL.

Have been telling myself that if I find it troublesome to blog, I shall tweet. But still, there are times when Twitter couldn't let me write stories, post many BIG pictures and collating experiences into one entry. So, there comes a need for Blog.

And with that, congratulations for the re-opening of my Nth blog!
