The Joys of having Long legs..

Okay, so everyone says that I am lucky because I have such long legs, but really it can be a total pain sometimes, don't get me wrong, I love being tall, but it is a major pain when I can't find a pair of jeans/pants that are long enough! If I could I would totally buy my jeans at Shopko or Wal-Mart, but I want actual pants, not floods. So the only place that I have been successful in finding my 37 inch inseam is the buckle, and I HATE paying 100 bucks for a pair of jeans! Does anyone know of a place that has super long jeans that are cheaper? Please enlighten me!

Gone WithThe Wind

So White Lightning has gone the way of the earth. The Kidney Foundation picked her up on Monday while we were at work or I would have taken a picture. I think that curb value of our house has gone up though, the house looks much better now, without the eyesore on the road. WL was a good car, but it wasn't worth it to get it fixed, it would have cost us about as much as we paid for it.

We figured it out yesterday that we will be able to ride to work every morning together, and we will leave one of the cars in Logan, in case one of us gets off earlier than the other and since we are both going to be going to school we will each need a car in Logan, we will see how that works out, but hopefully we can ride together as much as possible.

Baby Beth

Okay, so I am a little late in posting this, seeing that Beth was born on July 7th, but better late than never. She is such a cute little baby, she looks just like her big brother Sam.

So summer isn't that bad after all...

So I was going through some pictures on my computer and I came across this one of Cody, Joe & Sam last winter, and I thought to myself, I am not ready for it to be freezing quite yet.

mouse problem, cat problem, will it ever end?

Image

Okay, so most of you know that I absolutely HATE(hate may be a little too strong, but it is close) cats. It is just a known fact. If you read the earlier post about our Mice in the house problem, you might have noticed that I received a comment from the only Cat lover on the Vaughan side of the family, Zak, he stated that if we had a cat we most likely wouldn't have the mice problem. Well, Zak must have really prayed hard, because on Friday night, we were eating dinner and we live at the very end of the street in the middle of nowhere and someone stopped in front of our house and dropped a kitten out their car window. At first I was kind of irritated and frustrated, then I let Maggie out of the house to chase it off, but Maggie was all talk (bark), she ran after the cat and the thing swatted at her and she yelped and for the rest of the night she was barking and wouldn't stop unless we put her in the house. The kitten wasn't even afraid of Mags, it would just lay there while Maggie was two feet away barking up a storm. Crazy Dog.

We had Cody's nephews over for a "campout" that night and we had a fire in the fire pit and the kitten walked right up next to the pit and the fire singed its poor tail, it was kind of funny and sad at the same time. So every night since Friday the poor thing has climbed up the brick onto the window ledges and meowed until we would either feed it or give it water. So we now basically have a cat. So thanks Zak, I know I am going against everything I have ever said. I am very disappointed in Cody though, I was in the laundry room on saturday night and Cody was in the garage & I heard him talking to the kitten, so I think maybe Cody and Zak conspired against me. I do have to admit, it is kind of cute, but not so cute I would ever consider actually wanting to hold or pet it.

I know that cats are "supposed" to be good about catching mice, so hopefully this one will be a good mouse catcher. So one day I may just have to teach the thing how to be a ferocious hunter like in the picture below.

For all its worth

Image

So on Saturday we went and I got an ICEE and Cody got a Frosty and Maggie was just itching to have some, so we decided she could lick out the cups, it was so funny. She had to have a bath afterwards because she was so sticky.

The End of WL

So White Lightning has offically called it quits. We or I should say, I, am having the Kidney Foundation come a take her away. Cody is having a little bit of separation anxiety. I keep telling him that the faster she leaves the less he will feel guilty. So this is the end of White lightning. So we now are on the hunt for another car. We haven't found one yet, but we are diligently searching. We have decided to get a nicer car that will have 4 doors, I love the Accord Coupe, but once we start having kids it will be unpractical. So I will drive the new (we definately won't be buying a brand new car) car will be the car that we don't drive unless we have to and the Coupe will be the designated commuter car. Cody is stuck on buying an Accord. So we will see what we can find.

Houston, we have a problem...

Okay, for all of you who know me, I am a clean freak and germ freak, my kids will never play in the playgrounds at McDonalds or Wendy's, my biggest pet peeve is dusty baseboards. I admit it I am OCD about that kind of stuff. Anyways, so about a month ago, we got home really late Saturday about midnight. I went into our master bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth and get ready for bed. I use some face soap that is a squeeze bottle and when it comes to the end, I usually cut off the top and down the sides so that I can use it all up and not waste anything, it usually last me another week by being a cheapo. So that Friday night I had done just that. Back to Saturday night. So I am in the bathroom and Cody is in the kitchen eating, shocker! I get my face soap out of the shower and a clean washcloth, I go to put my hand in the cut part of the soap and I felt something weird, I thought, "why is there a washcloth in my soap?", so then I pulled the sides down and a MOUSE jumps out and lands in the sink. I screamed! I didn't just make a tiny little noise, I belted out a scream that woke up our neighbors. Cody came running in thinking that there was someone in the house or that I had just been stabbed. But no, even worse, a mouse was in my house! So I started bawling and said that I wanted to move and that I wanted to go back to my parents house and Cody said okay. He is so nice. Cody caught the mouse and then took it outside and smashed it with a shovel, I kind of felt bad, but not that bad. So at 12:30 in the morning I bleached my entire bathroom from top to bottom, then Cody just had to say, well it wasn't only in the bathroom. The next day at church our nieghbor, Justin, came up to Cody and asked, "Is everything okay at your house?" I was SO embarassed.

We bought some traps and set them up. I was niave, in thinking that there was only one mouse in my house, but no, when we got home from work on Monday, I found(literally) out that we had caught another critter. I was determined to sell the house. Cody tried making me feel better by saying that in Priesthood on Sunday almost all of the men in there said that they had had mice at one point. He even told the story of my mouse finding abilities. So now our entire ward knows that I have good lungs and mice in my house. It failed in making me feel better. I was on edge, I wouldn't even sit on the carpet. Then Tuesday we didn't catch anything, so I was starting to think we had taken care of the problem, but then on Wednesday morning, I was getting Cody's lunch ready and I went to throw something away in the garbage under the sink and a mouse ran out and ran across my feet! I screamed, but I think the neighbors were already awake, if not they were now.

So I got mad, I had had it. I told Cody that I wasn't coming home until the problem had been taken care of. I packed a bag and told him that I would be staying at my parents until we had it under control (as if it was his fault). I am such a baby. We caught one more mouse and we have been mouse free for about 2 1/2 weeks and hopefully they don't come back. I guess this is what we get for living in the middle of an alfalpha field.

Blue Ribbon Mags

Image

So on Saturday, it was Garlands "Beet and Wheat Days" (fun name). And Cody's nephew Chaz, who is 14 asked if he could enter Maggie in the Dog Show competition. We totally didn't care, so I made her a "girly" doggie bandana, since she has a blue collar, I wanted her to look like a girl dog, she was referred to as a boy dog earlier that morning while Cody was waiting for me to finish the 10k.

During the dog show we weren't there because we were looking for cars. But when we went to pick her up at Cody's sisters house, Maggie came out with a nice big blue ribbon around her neck. She won "the most well groomed dog". The competition must have been super competitive, seeing the fact that Maggie hadn't had a bath for a week.

Lion Reunited

This is my new favorite U-Tube video. It made me cry.

Enjoy!

Thanks Zak for explaining how to add this.
