Full road closure on SR-82 in Burlingame between Carmelita & Oak Grove - June 12, Carmelita & Howard - June 15-17

SAN MATEO COUNTY Caltrans continues work on the State Route 82 El Camino Real Roadway Renewal Project in Burlingame. Construction crews will remove trees and set up a temporary traffic configuration for the next phase of construction. This work will require a full road closure of El Camino Real between Carmelita and Oak Grove on Friday, June 12, and between Carmelita and Howard from Monday, June 15 to Wednesday, June 17.

Driving north on El Camino Real, turn right on Oak Grove, left on California, left on Carmelita, and right on El Camino Real.

Please note:


  • Due to narrower lanes and large construction equipment impacting visibility, there are no left turns allowed within the project corridor.


  • There will be one lane of traffic in each direction between Grove and Oxford and between East Bellevue and Peninsula through August 2026.



The $173M El Camino Real roadway rehabilitation project will maintain El Camino Real as a safe, accessible, and reliable transportation corridor. The project encompasses repaving the road and upgrading sidewalks for enhanced mobility. It also aims to reduce localized flooding and to improve visibility.
