Port towns day 8

Saturday morning the team met for a big team breakfast.  Then we went to Autumn woods (the neighborhood where we did Bible clubs) and held one last Bible club for the kids.  We started with two but by then end of the club, at least ten kids had arrived.  In the afternoon was the block party!  Thank you to everyone that came from cornerstone to help out.  We gave out over 300 hot dogs.  The team estimated that at least 200-300 people showed up to play games and learn about the church.  The team is excited for church on Sunday to see how many people God will bring to Port Towns.  Thank you for all your prayers and support!

Friday, the team finished up some last minute details for the block party and then went surveying and evangelizing after lunch. We headed to Hyittsville, another town that makes up Port Towns. The weather was beautiful so we were able to hold Bible clubs in the evening. The attendance was smaller but the team was thankful that kids still came.  Due to the rain on Thursday, we will be having Bible clubs Saturday morning. Please pray that the team will have energy throughout the day, since after Bible clubs is the block party.

Port towns day 6

This morning, we started the day evangelizing, although the rain made it hard due to the lack of people sitting outside.  However, one group ran into Cylde who we talked with yesterday which was a cool experience. After lunch, the team finished building sound panels for Port Towns church and completed some shopping for the block party on Saturday. As we were headed to the neighborhood for Bible clubs, it started to storm really had and wouldn't let up.  So unfortunately, we were not able to have clubs today, which the team was really bummed about.  However, we were able to perform parts of the club for Danny and Aubrey, who visited us after we cancelled clubs.  The only plus side to the rain was that Jon and Sean decided that it would be really fun to go swimming in the grass.  And it was awesome!  Please pray that the weather will be clear for Friday and Saturday and that kids will come to clubs on Friday after in being rained out today.

Wednesday morning, the team practiced the Bible clubs and finished some decorations for the block party.  In the afternoon, we practiced some evangelism and then went out on the sidewalks to share the gospel.  During the debrief, every group had great experiences and many people said that they would come to church on Sunday.  Please pray for India, Darius, Stephen, Darlington, Bob, Clyde, and Frank as well as the other people we talked to too.  In the evening, twenty two kids showed up to the first day of Bible clubs!  It went really well, despite not knowing how kids were going to respond, but they loved it.  It was also Mark's birthday so we celebrated the end of the day with cake and ice cream.

On Tuesday, the team went to visit the African American museum in DC. We went to learn more about the culture of the people we will be evangelizing too. It was a really good, eye-opening experience.  (If you haven't heard the story of Emmet Till, look it up, it will change your world as it did for me).  After our trip to the museum, the team went to Pastor Danny's house to participate in their weekly community group meeting.  Please pray for the team tomorrow for strength since it will be the first day of Bible clubs and pray that people will come and be open to the Gospel.

Monday morning at the guy's house we decided to go on an early morning run to the community center and back; on the way back, it started raining and continued to rain throughout the day.  Due to this, the team was not able to evangelize on the streets as planned.  Instead, the team worked on preparing the block party games and building some sound panels for Port Towns church (12 in total). Scott and Sean learned a very valuable lesson while constructing the sound panels which was always use torque screws instead of Phillips head screws! Also, Pastor Danny was able to join the team for lunch, which was a pleasant. The rain let up for a bit in the afternoon, so a couple groups went to the apartment complex where we will be holding the clubs and passed out flyers for the club and block party as well as Port Towns church's information.  To finish the day, we had a team dinner and revealed the greatest movie known to man, The Princess Bride, to some of our team.

Guatemala June 2019-Day 5

Today was day five  on the ground and it was a long day but fun day! We left MST after breakfast this morning to head to Guatemala City where we are taking the girls and staff of MST to a three day Christian Music Festival! And it was AWESOME!!! The girls loved it, the huge smiles on their faces and screaming the songs at the top of their longs the entire night was so fun to watch! We got back from the concert very late but somehow (as always) the girls are just as energetic as ever! We are having so much fun with them and can't wait to take them to the second day of the EXPLO music festival tomorrow!

In Christ,
Guatemala Team 2019
