Let the hunting begin

Image Image Image
Tree cutting is a whole new experience for me. 2 years ago was the first year we did it, and we got lucky, we found a tree right off the road, and boy was I glad because the snow was at least 3 feet deep. So this year I knew what to expect, or so I thought. We drove up the mountain, fully dressed for the snow and picked a spot that was more mud then snow, which turned out to be okay, considering each time we go to the snow the girls insist on taking off their gloves, and then they want to make snowballs and wonder why there hands are cold!
So we hunted and searched, and walked for a long time looking for the perfect tree. After serious hiking we found a tree, which we loaded up and then kept looking for ours (because the first one was for my parents). We were all pretty tired, mainly just from carrying Eden, so we loaded up and decided that our tree better be one we can see from the road.
I would love to say we got lucky, but not really, it was more of we got tired, and finally found one, just off the side of the road. After getting it home Darrin quickly realized that we were going to need a new tree stand because it was too big around to fit in our little metal red and green one (you all know what kind I am talking about). I didn't want to go shopping, I just wanted the tree up so I suggested we cut off large enough chunks from the base so it would fit. Darrin did that, and then threatened anyone who touched the tree that they would die. Not so much by him, but more by the tree that would fall on them! Sure enough a week later, while the girls were watching Saturday cartoons, I heard a crash from our room and ran out to find the tree had fallen over. The first words that came out of Jaya's mouth was "We didn't touch it!" She continued to say that as I ran out to tell Darrin we needed a new stand. We got the new stand that night, and rescued our fallen tree, which has turned out to be the highlight of the house.

Stuffing!

Call us weird, and you would be correct. We find great laughter and joy in trying to fit our kids in fun places that they would normally not be, and Eden just played along, in fact I think she would like to just stay in the cooler!

Spilling our guts!

Carving the pumpkins is normally something Darrin and I really enjoy. This year was different. We put it off, and put it off, I think we were secretly hoping that they would just carve themselves! Finally on Monday night we couldn't put it off anymore. We dragged out our 4 pumpkins and ended up carving just 1, but at least we can say we did carve a pumpkin.

Spooky Kooky!

I love Halloween, I love dressing up, but even more then that I love deciding what we are going to be that year. I was really rooting to be the Incredibles this year, but Darrin just wasn't convinced of the spandex! So instead he came up with this clever theme, well see if you can figure it out! See answer below if you can't.ImageImage ImageImage

We're Tarzan, Jane, and the monkeys of course! If I still don't look familar I am the Jane from the cartoon.

Photo Session

Being the 3rd child, I have to hold to tradition and not really do much for our little Eden. Which means, that she has never had professional pictures taken of her alone. (unlike Jaya who I think I took 1 prof. picture every 3 months!) So I was feeling pretty bad for her, but not bad enough to actually attempt taking 3 kids to the photo studio, so we made our own. Here are the pics...ImageImageImage

Quite a Trip!

So this Sunday I thought we were doing so good, getting up early to get all the girls ready for church. We were getting there early so we could sit up near the front because Jaya was going to be in the primary program. We actually got everyone dressed, hair done and were now shouting for everyone to get in the van. That's when we heard the earsplitting scream from Jaya. Now you would think I would have started running, but no, I took my time because to be quite honest I hear earsplitting screams all day long, which are usually a result from a toy being taken away. This time was different, as I slowly made my way out the door, the screaming didn't stop. Darrin beat me to the punch and brought in a bloody Jaya. After examining her wound we decided instead of the church we would visit the emergency room.

She ended up getting 7 stitches in her chin. She did great and is healing quickly. So, that's two of my three girls that have had stitches now, and I have decided two things #1. I will no longer be the one there when they do the stitching (after asking if I could sit down and lots of long slow breaths I came to this realization) and #2. I am realizing that I can stay calm, even when my children are spurting blood. And actually if it weren't for fact #1 maybe when Eden gets her stitches I could do the stitching!

Introductions

ImageThis is my life, happy, plain, simple and completely CRAZY!!!...

The basic components are Me - Lil' D (wife, mom, inconsistent blogger), Big D (husband & dad), Our oldest daughter (the princess), Our second daughter (the comedian), and our third daughter (the happy one). Tha's right we have ALL girls. Big D has been completely outnumbered, and is slowly starting to see pink take over the household even his wardrobe, pink is great for guys too, right?

We currently live in Colorado. Big D works in construction so we have had the opportunity to see all different areas of Colorado, over the last 2 1/2 years we have moved 5 times.

ImageAbout me...
I am stay at home mom, to my 3 beautiful girls that I mentioned before. After the day and my kids are in bed I find I have too many things I want to be doing and only 2 hours to do it. My interests change almost weekly, actually weekly is pretty accurate. Big D and I have figured out that I do have a cycle so if it's not scrapbooking right now, don't worry it will come around again, in about a month. The biggest interests I have on the cycle include: starting a business (this is the forerunner most of the time), managing money, taking an online course (currently I want to take an accounting class), scrapbooking/stamping, photography, exercising (I wish this one stayed around longer) and home decorating, to name just a few!

ImageBig D my husband of almost 8 years now, is amazing! He is no doubt the fun and funny energy of our family. He works for a local construction company, and he calls himself a glorified secretary, but we all know he does more then just fax! He is currently working on a hospital addition. He enjoys hiking, fishing & golfing (this one is fairly new) to name a few.

Image This is our Princess. She is 4 1/2 years old, and loves anything girly. She is quite the chatterbox, and a very good singer. She has an amazing memory when it comes to songs especially and so she has picked up on the really good ones like "Shake your booty!" (thanks Sadie Dunn!) She is such her mommy's helper and is so excited and READY to start preschool this year.

ImageThe Comedian is 3. She is quite the character. She loves to make people and herself laugh. She is easy to laugh though all she has to do is mention the word "poo" and she busts out laughing (I thought that was supposed to be a boy thing). The Comedian also loves to catch people saying "bad" words which are (stupid, idiot & fat), and then repeating to me what they said, as many times as she can before I say something like "okay Comedian, I heard them, that's not a very nice word is it?" then she ends it by saying "No, we don't call people fat do we mom?" So she throws it in one last time!

ImageThe Happy One, is our 3rd and fun baby girl. I don't think you can get a better, happier baby then this one. She is the baby that will small so big and wide for anyone that even glances in her direction. Sometimes I want to tell her to slow down, she's going to hurt her jaw from smiling so much. Needless to say she has been such a fun addition to our family. She is 7 months now, and is exploring the "real foods" part of this life, and is much less enthusiastic then our other two were but she's picking it up. Her sisters love tickling her, taking her toys, and swinging her arms around constantly. She'll catch up soon enough and rule the roost I am sure!

These are the main characters in our play of life, I will be posting more as time goes on, I hope you enjoy!

Jaya starting preschool

Image

As I said before we are embarking on a New Beginning, PRESCHOOL. For weeks I have been contemplating what this will mean to have Jaya leave the home. I will be the first to admit, I over analyzed and completely stressed out about this decision, doing 2 days or 4 days a week, or just waiting till kindergarten. I finally left it up to Jaya who said "I want to do 4 days". When I asked her why she said "because 4 days is more". So apparently she is more ready then I am! But who can blame me, this is my girl, my girl that has spent 4 years under my watch, dancing, singing and of course torturing her sisters. It's hard to let go, and know that I am putting her out there in the big wide world where I don't know what she is learning! Don't get me wrong I really am not such a spaz, but about this I am!
So the first day came, we got ready and then life throws a twist as it always does, where the planned big moments turn out small and the unexpected moments are what we remember. To explain further, we were running late, and I got a quick pic from the parking lot and then spent the rest of the walk in, ahead of Jaya encouraging her to hurry so we wouldn't be later, then we already were. I was in what I call frazzle mode and so I didn't even savor the moment. I just quickly dropped her off, signed her in, and then after thought well I totally missed that one. Life is just funny, or maybe I am just funny. But to make a long story short, she went, she liked it (from what little I gathered, after school) and she had a hard time sharing. In the end she's going to love it, and I know I really will too!
